TF's are really both Action and Sci-Fi. Action and Sci-Fi have become largely interchangeable and usually are coupled together. It's hard to have a sci-fi show, series, movie without a good amount of action nowadays.

G1 was completely both Action and Scfi-Fi. The G1 cartoon was mostly action.

BW/BM were both action and Sci-Fi as well. BM became a bit more Dramatic and such, but it was still an Action Cartoon.

All TF stuff balances out simple Action adventures with Sci-Fi tendencies.

Sci-Fi isn't really a genre its more of a theme. Transformers is an action cartoon with a sci-fi theme. Star Trek is a drama with a sci-fi theme, etc.

Sci-fi *used* to be a genre... but now any movie that's in space or has robots in it is automatically sci-fi. I'm sure some people out there would call frickin' Spaceballs a sci-fi film.

i think it's dumb to try and treat a cartoon that features giant mechanical robots from another planet as action, because tf's are a bit too geeky for the same type of audience that's into GI Joe, Batman, and other series. it's like trying to pander Jeopordy to sports fans.

what do you think?

dude, geeks are into Batman and GI Joe also. I like Transformers, X-Men, Batman, Justice League, and Spider-Man. And it was treated as scifi by Mick, Patyk, and Furman in their respective comics.

from wikipedia:

Science fiction is a form of speculative fiction principally dealing with the impact of imagined science and technology, or both, upon society and persons as individuals. The borders of this genre are not well defined, and the dividing lines between its sub-genres are often fluid. (In Strong Opinions, Vladimir Nabokov half-seriously argues that, if we were truly rigorous with our definitions, Shakespeare's play The Tempest would have to be termed science fiction.) Many people abbreviate "science fiction" as "sci-fi", although noted personalities within the field have often derided this usage, preferring instead "SF".

Now STFU about Transformers being sci-fi already.

Comics are scifi, or else the 1st issiue of Almoast all comic would be like this

Doc Conners-Im afraid you have leucemia

Peter Parker-What I thought I would get super powers from the Radioactive spider.

I think the desired effect would be to make the show a bit more mature. Aim it at adults. Kids will like it to because it's big robots fighting. G1 had a slightly more adult theme to it ( there were some stupid eps ) and the kids liked it. Why does it have to be dumbed down for kids? They like alot of the same stuff adults do.
