Masterpiece/Alternator Megatron

Transformers... Must... Transform!

For my part, An out of scale gun (with snipe accessories) would be perfect.

I agree, who cares about the scale difference in altmode. heck the original g1 Prime and megatron toys were way off in in sizes in altmode. A large ass gun would be the sh!t, too big to look realistic so yeah those toy safety laws the us has should/could be avoided. i hope that instead of using silver/chrome they use a flater gray color scheme. well, its never going to happen but what the heck.

Personally, I'd like to see Megatron as a stationary railgun, something like Galvatron, but then in present-day human tech.

That’d be my approach to the problem as well, and an MP Megs is on my list of future projects. Who knows, if all goes according to plan, we might see one down the rode.

I agree that there should be a MP Megatron. But I still want him as a gun. Just don't push him towards kids that don't have a clue !!! It should geared towards adults that grew up with G1 anyways, besides we made Transformers by getting the products in the first place!!!

Maybe we should distinguish between MP Megs and an Alternators version.

Maybe we should do a search for topics like this before repeating arguments that have been going around ever since MP Convoy was announced.

Masterpiece Convoy was show-accurate in robot and alt mode.

Alternators are homages to G1 characters.

Therefore, a "Masterpiece Megatron" by definition would not be a tank, or a railgun, or a howitzer, or anything else. It would be a Walther P-38 with a scope, stock, silencer, and extended barrel. It would also be impossible to produce in the US. It doesn't matter who you "target" a toy toward; the fact is that it WOULD BE a toy, and as such would have to conform to US safety standards. There's a reason why Megatron hasn't been a gun since 1985.

"Alternators" Megatron would be a car, and would be the same height as guys like Hound and Windcharger. If you're okay with that, fine. Personally I think it'd be lame. You can speculate all day long about non-car Alternators, but the fact is that there aren't any yet.

So basically, enjoy your MP Convoy / 20th Anniversary Prime. 'Cuz you ain't getting an MP Megatron... at least not G1 Megatron.

But the scope, stock, silencer, and extended barrel would be in paper.

Err.. hate to say it to you, but just because Prime was show-accurate, doesn't mean each toy in the Masterpiece-line will be. Magnus, for instance, isn't show-accurate at all. You only assume the Masterpiece-series is show-accurate, because of one toy from the line. The second Masterpiece isn't show accurate at all, so the thrid Masterpiece might very well be something totally not show-accurate. Like an updated version of G1 megatron, which transforms into something completely different from the show. So your "definition", as you say it, is based on nothing more than assumptions, and therefor not a definition at all. Basically, we can expect anything in the Masterpiece-line.

I do however agree with you on the Alternator-line. That one is based on realistic, licensed vehicles. So if Megatron was to appear in that line, he would indeed be a car (or something else, but that's a whole different story).

MP-2 is a straight-up repaint. It's not like it's a "new" Masterpiece figure. That's why I didn't mention him. Either way, take a look at that paper trailer of his and you'll see a show-accurate alt mode for Ultra Magnus.

MP-2 was a quick cash grab for Takara. I don't think - at least I hope not - that MP-2 is indicative of the future of that "line".

All this aside, the only new gun Megatron you're gonna be getting is the Takara G1 reissue. :wave
