Quantum Surge Transformations

Recommended Posts

Ok, during "Aftermath", the first episode of the Second Season of Beast Wars, certain characters were turned into Transmetals...

I know why Rhinox, Waspinator, Terrorsaur, & Dinobot weren't changed into Transmetals. From what I gather only the original crews of each team had the potential to be turned into Transmetals.

Well I want to know why just the original team members? How come Tigatron, Airazor, Blackarachnia, and Inferno were not changed? Was there an episode or line of dialogue I missed that gave a full explaination? I don't remember one and I have watched all of BW several times.

I guess it was just that the energies were configured on the team members the aliens (Vok) knew of originally? But that seems odd...

So was there an actual, full explaination? Or was it just one of those never-talked-about things that we and kids were supposed to just accept?

Note the careful selection of Transformers who became Transmetals, they're all characters who had to "adapt" to beast modes rather than being protoform characters who were created on the world. The only exception is Waspinator, but he was shielded by the regeneration tank.

I'll take his word, he worked with the Writers on some of BW.

Thanks X-Bob, but story-wise it doesn't really explain what I was asking. Why would only the 'adaptees' only be affected?

Maybe they were more adept at taking on new forms because they had to do it once before?

It also appeared that Terrorsaur and Scorponok were changing. But then we just never got to see the new forms on screen.

I don't think there was ever an explanation explicitly said, but X-Bob is right. And at least there is a pattern to it so that it seems like a technical reason was thought out.

I've always wondered how transformers "age" anyway. Kup looks old. Alpha Trion looked like A# as an old man rather than a powerd-up, latter version A3. It actually looks like they grow old. And a "quantum" surge could have only affected the bots that crashed there since they had been in those bodies a while. Perhaps all of the BW Transformers were affected by it (as in aging everyone evenly), but only the ones who had already been in those modes for a long time were affected visibly.

I wouldn't guess it had anything to do with the Vok because it didn't seem like it was intentional, but more of a side effect of the surge. But who knows with the Vok...

Airazor, and Inferno(In Japan) had Transmetal Forms in the toys but not the Show.

Technically TM Scavanger was supposed to be Inferno.. but it seems they changed his name over to Scavanger at the last minute.

Good explination though.. I always wondered that.

One word: merchandising.

Doesn't explain why Airazor and Tigatron, nor Inferno weren't give TM Bodies.

That's a neat explaination, and it kind of makes sense. Good show on that thought.

Ok, so there is no real-story official explaination...

I always took it that the original crews had been in contact with all the alien artifacts and lifeforms so much that the energies were sort of 'set' to bond with them. I know this isn't a great explaination, but still, it's all I have been able to come up with.

i alwayz just figured that those who were the Original 10 had the potential of becoming Transmetals...but the ones who were in recovery chambers were protected (Rhinox, Dinobot, Waspinator) and like previously stated we did see Terrorsaur and Scorponok glowing as well, bu fell to there doom unfortunatly
