Why is no one asking for an Alternators Optimus Prime? Imagine not having 20th Prime and having Prime be some car instead - the same size as the rest of the Alts. Lame x infinity. Prime and Megatron are special, and they should stand out from the rest.

A Dodge Ram would make a good Prime.

 

Although, it would probably look a lot like Armada Prime so it would be reviled by the fandom.

But anyway...... back to Megatron. I have a personal weakness for G2 Megatron, and to be honest I never liked G1 Megatron, not even back in the day. I think the character has enormous potential but it was so often wasted. G1 Megs spent way too much time scheming and laughing, and far too little time actually fighting or doing anything kickass. I would have liked to see Megatron be more dangerous like Galvatron was... and I think the fact that Galvatron turned into a huge cannon (a Galvatron's cannon cannon, to be sure, but a cannon nonetheless) added to that danger factor. So for me, the tank Megatron is perfect. It's basically a huge weapon on wheels, and I can dig that. Plus it's about the most intimidating vehicle I can think of. :thumb

G1 Megs was a puss. I thought he was at his best during the "More than meets the eye" trilogy/story arc from the first toon. But that was it. And that`s not saying much. He could have been better if he had the attitude like he had in TF/TM. Or an amalgamation of movie Megs and movie Galvy. Not season 3, Galvy blew, and season 4/rebirth he was worse!!

 

As far as the look of the G1 Megs character. I liked his bot mode and his colors, but I agree with most, even during the toons heyday, his alt mode sucked.

 

G1 Megs should have been a tank from the beginning, and I`m not talking about some little military tank, I mean like an M1-Abrams or even bigger in all his sinister silver and black, not green and purple. :tfpuke But thats just me.

 

That pic of Megs you posted has got to be one of the most bada$$ looking Megs ever. :thumb :thumb If he ends up looking like this in the movie I soil myself!!

That just came up in a random Google search. (Who knew?) But yeah. G1 Megs with a G2 Megs attitude = 100% PWNAGE. I just want them to make Megs' head look like the G2 comic (okay, okay, he doesn't have to have the EXTREME chin). That comic totally reinvented Megatron as far as I'm concerned, and in a good way. G2 Megs just looked like he would rather blow you up (along with your friends, family, and hometown) than talk to you.

Either this one or the G2 Megs are great. The alt-mode is appropriate and the bot mode looks terrific. I think the robot mode is the most important aspect of Megatron. He has to have the arm cannon, a large one too. He must look large and imposing. We would have had neither of these if that Honda had been Megatron. Although I still don't believe that it was actually considered for such a character as him.

Hasbro already made Prime and Megs as cars anyway w/ those lame G2 Go-Bots. That's all the car Megs/Prime I need.

This was from the announcement of the fig. The look isn't bad, but It's still no Megs, especially when stood next to MP Prime....

 

Oh man, this is getting fun. I can't type three words without someone misinterpreting them or using them out of context. Fine I'm a toy collector, but as I said I don't just buy little kids toys- they need to have a character that I am a fan of. Thats why I have 2 MP-01's, 2 G1 Primes, and a reissue. I stated earlier(in a post edit) that I have 2 G1 Megatrons, 1 G2 Megatron, and 1 Megatron reissue. Prime and Megatron are the best leaders of their respective armies(Galvatron was just insane, check Webworld), but as far as toys that don't represent character that I enjoy- f%$@ 'em. I'm fine with you guys liking them, but thats just wrong that for the movie they're changing everything(Ratchet is going to be a firetruck!) and still calling it G1(actual quote: G1, G1, G1. Period. Finito.). Now I suppose that you hold your beloved Beast Wars to the same 'its only as good as its worst episode/character/one liner/whatever suits my needs to hate it', right? I actually (I may have removed it in an edit, making this an ignorant statement) pointed out earlier that some of the episodes are unwatchable(there were several per season), but its usually due to the writings of the same few idiots. I'm NOT going to make excuses for G1, but I don't have to: I am an adult and it is the ONLY transformer show that I can stomach. It is far more grown up than the other tf's to follow(not to mention BW didn't even have giant robots). If all you do is quote a bad episode, and laugh about it you're not really adding anything other than post to your name(they in one episode(in just a few minutes), say Mega-rat(Megatron), Tinfoil Turkey(Laserbeak), Floptimus Prime, and thats all that I can remember from that episode(Prime Problem? It was the one in which Prime was 'cloned'). These are NOT representative of the series as a whole.

Dude, it's okay. We've moved on. I'm really not interested in starting a G1 vs. BW flamefest. Anyway if you want to complain about the TF movie, there are plenty of people on Don Murphy's board who bitch about stuff like Ratchet as a fire truck all day long.
