Any 'official' word on Cybertron's timeline?

Recommended Posts

It is obvious that Cybertron will take place AFTER Energon, but far enough in the future that none of the Armada/Energon human characters are in it. Excillion is Hot Shot, and Jetfire is returning. From the first episode, Megatron and Starscream come out of the sun, which is where they were left off in Energon/Superlink.

I'm 100% convinced that GF/Cybertron both are continuations of SL/Energon. How else did Megs get Unicron armor?

Hasn't it already been confirmed that Galaxy Force is NOT a continuation of Superlink?

Because the toys were designed when Cybertron was definately going to be a direct sequel, but you can make changes in a cartoon a lot easier than a toy (which are designed months in advance).

I think we should just wait and see, but if you are expecting Cybertron to pick up right where Energon left off, I think you will be dissappointed (as far as the "sun" bit, how do you know it's a sun and not just an elaborate lair?).

"elaborate lair" :lol

I'm glad I'm not trying to keep up with all of this - it would be way too frustrating.

I haven't been following, but haven't enough episodes of GF been aired in Japan to verify that it is indeed an entirely new continuity? A rumor from a source I consider to be reliable mentioned several months ago that Takara was starting fresh while Hasbro would try and continue the Armadaverse. From most of what I've seen to date, this seems to be holding true.

Like with the Japanese dubbing of Beast Wars, I think Hasbro is making a big mistake by deviating from the intended original story. They are really going to have a difficult time forcing a square peg into a circular hole. Even if they are able to somehow make it work, it will undoubtedly have to get quite convoluted, which seems to contradict the 'lowest common denominator' theme they've adopted for the last couple of series.

I think a clean slate is better because A) the Armadaverse was very bad in my opinion, and B) only insomniacs were able to view it enough to follow the storyline. So the appeal of following along the Armadaverse is lost to me. If they wish to keep the names from the Armadaverse, fine. But they really should start from square 1.

I just can't wait until the post movie era. Hasbro will be forced to take the fiction seriously again and hire competent writers. I wonder if Bob and Larry would even take their call.

I would be even better if the fans had the willpower to say "you know what, this sucks" and not watch it at all anymore. Until that happens, Hasbro won't be motivated to change their formula. And why should they? Practically every other cartoon out there these days is a Japanese import.

Does anybody else hate how Megs keep switching back in forth between Megs and Galvatron in every series in the continuation? IE: Megs turns to Glavatron, "dies", reawakes as Megs in the start of next series, then gets reformatted into Galvy again.

I sure do. :tfpuke

Hasbro's job is to make toys, not write stories. Is it any wonder they can't keep it coherant? They should realize that the majrity of the TF fanbase has trouble swallowing bad continuity (Even G1 had some stumblings there I.E. the Constructicons built by Megatron or coming from Cybertron).

This is a Hasbro phenomenon.

Basically, Hasbro HAS to use Megatron on a relatively consistant basis to prevent a trademark loss (they almost lost it in 2002).

In Japan, Micron Legend's Megatron's recolor was called "Super Megatron" or "Megatron Supermode". It wasn't until Superlink that he was called Galvatron.

And now he is "Master Megatron"

whats weird thogh is when I watched a subed version of that Galaxy Force special DVD thing that came out before the show it made it sound like the show WAS a continuation. It showed images from the previous two shows and everything.

Yeah I think the plan got changed about halfway through production... as has been mentioned, there are a lot of visual references to Energon in the GF toys, but.... who knows. I would like it to be a new storyline b/c I have not been impressed with Armada/Energon at all.

If this is a continutation, at least it is 50-60 years in the future... Gives them a plausible excuse to dump all the crap that no one liked about Energon/Armada verse. And so far the animation looks way more action oriented that armada, and not as rediculously battle heavy as energon. Some call that "balance" :thumb
