2006 movie rating?

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't bank on anything below "PG-13" either. Don't worry. Kids will still see it too.

Well Don has confirmed that the movie will be rated PG-13.

He's stated on a number of occasions that it will be aimed at the "Star Wars" audience and he believes that if you have that audience, you have everyone.

So, who do you believe? The PRODUCER of the movie, or some random rumormill?

the thing about pg-13 movies is that parents will still take there kids to see it :P

and if memory serves me correctly...both spidey and xmen movies were pg-13 and look at their sucess!

Particularly Spidey's merchandising frenzy (on both films).

I, too, am expecting a PG-13, though they MIGHT squeeze into a PG rating, I do doubt it.

Any kind of violence in a realistic setting (it is a live action movie) would prevent them from attaining a PG rating.

The only possiblities are PG-13 or R, and Hasbro, and the producers will not let it get an R rating.

The robot-on-robot violence may allow it to qualify for PG - depends on how much violence is directed towards people.

Also, it's funny now how PG-13 is essentially the same as PG twenty years ago - if not slightly tamer. I can recall in the 70s that you could get away with a fair amount of foul language (no f-word) and maybe one or two topless chicks and still qualify as PG. Now show one boob and the movie is automatically R.

This movie's going to kick ass, pure and simple. The man has gone to all this trouble to listen to what the fans want. It's not going to be a kiddie movie. And it's not going to have Bludgeon in it(thank God).

There's no way this movie won't be PG-13. That's the magic $$$$ rating, especially for a film like this.

Personally, I sometimes wonder if that won't end up being the films undoing.

The robot-on-robot violence doesn't matter all that much. Any kind of extended violence (battle sequence), in a realistic setting, will probably get you at least PG-13. Though it does depend on the board that is reviewing the film, which has been generally more conservative in recently.
