i'm trying to play catch-up. but i need a lot more than i got now

I have to say that the re-molds are getting a bit tedious. I don't mind the RAVAGE Vette as much as I'm hearing a lot of people are complaining that he shouldn't have been done, I just like the BEAST WARS homage. In fact, I was ecpecting a few more BW homages in the future (hopefully there will be a CHEETOR getting the BT/ALT treatment someday). My gripe is that HAS/TAK seems to love the regurgitation of the same product instead of giving us something new and then maybe 5-10 bots down the line, giving us a remold like SWERVE. The imagination just isn't there when we have that same mock canopy chest plate for 5 different bots. I'd have liked RAVAGE to have had maybe an alternate animal chest ...something different that makes him stand out besides the fact that he's a convertable.

 

Not tired of chest hoods but wouold love to see the comeback of Hood-feet and trunk-chest transformations. It wouldn't be that hard to re-engineer the JAZZ transformation scheme to be a backwards transforming AUTOBOT like CLIFFJUMPER and BUMBLEBEE and giving them a different car mold altogether. Since they have Ford as a license, why not use the Rally version Ford Focus? Why not use more Car Enthusiast cars??

 

I love the BT/ALT line but find that it may fall short if some changes in marketing and designing aren't met.

Heh.. I wonder if they'd make a Waspinator Alt.. I'd soo buy that. But I have no idea what he'd be.

Alternators (BT) is a great line and with no other TF am I as exited when I get them and unpack them. Most TF's are unpacked and transformed almost immediately. The ALT's I usually first admire in the box for a few days, then let them stay in car mode admiring the sculpt and all the details, and only then are they first transformed.

 

 

Nevertheless, there is definitely room for (much needed) improvement.

 

When Silverstreak and Dead End appeared, I was amazed by how these molds were changed to make them different characters. Not simply a new color, but actually remolding. Great. Since then, this has become less and less so: a new head, a new color and maybe some trinkets. The best two examples are the uses of the Corvette mold. To make Ravage more appealing they should've giving him claws and changing his chest design (to make it more a muscled chest like the BW incarnation) and Swerve should also have a new chest and some other remolding.

 

 

Beyond that, I also think we need a little more different alt modes (am still hoping for the Pick-up truck (Ironhide) and some jets and other military vehicles). Also more different transformation/robot looks. There are simply too many ALT's with the hooded chest. I would like to see some TF's with a chest like G-1 Sideswipe/Red alert.

So far I think Alts/BT is one of the best TF lines yet, I don’t think there is an Alt I don’t like yet. Now having said that I think Hasbro needs to be careful so that we don’t see a lot of repetition in the line such as the generic Smokescreen, Silverstrek, Mesiter, Grimlock moulds. In the future I hope we get to see some more unique moulds such as trucks, SUV's and so forth.

Still lovin' it! Apparently everyone else is too, otherwise I wouldn't have to bust my arse trying the find the damn things locally.

 

As for their most recent offerings a friend of mine acquired for me not a few days ago...

 

The pics I've seen don't do Ravage justice, he's absolutely gorgeous out of the box and makes an excellent addition to the Alternators. Liking him so much, I'm hoping that they put out the other tapes to accompany him. Ratbat, Laserbeak, Rumble, etc.

 

Windcharger bugs me a bit, but he makes such a fine 'bot (which is what I buy all tfs for in the long run) that I really don't worry too much about the "gun". Then again, I might as well just give VP a jingle about that so he can be "complete."

 

As long as they keep pumping these things, out then I'll be sure to keep picking them up. I love these guys and have yet to actually be disappointed by the line.

Space out the reuse of an existing mold. We got yellow Tracks, then blue Tracks a month later, now Ravage and soon Swerve. Its Corvette overload. I don't think anybody will want to see a Corvette again in the line any time soon.

Unless you got BT, there are no yellow Alternator Tracks :roll

 

As far as the line, I think the concept, and many of the molds are fantastically executed, but the real problem is distribution and production.

 

Why are areas getting restocks of the case assortment due about this time LAST YEAR (Silverstreak, Hound)? Why were so many Smokescreens produced that my area has effectively stopped carrying the line (2 retail stores out of 7 in my area still Alts, but both are still full of Smokescreens)?

 

Ravage is being released now, with Shockblast and Wheeljack due within the next few weeks. But as far as my area is concerned, Alts stopped with Hound.

The point that everybody (but Madhammer) seems to skip over is that the Alt line should be concentrating on the best, most "important" characters...IMO...the original bots that came off the Ark...

I'm not an expert in the 1337 language, but up to this point I was under the impression that "Teh SUXX0R" was indicating resentment while "Teh ROXXOR" equals appreciation, not the other way round.
