ALTERNATOR SWERVE! WTF!

Recommended Posts

It's a nice-looking car and everything, I love Ravage (though most don't), and I like the mold in general. I'm just asking, how do you justify the price? Even $15 I could do, but this is not an original figure in any way, shape, or form. What makes this worth $20? I ask, because I know it can't be the production costs. It seems to me that, if Hasbro wants to keep pushing their repaints that's fine and dandy, but they should do so at a reduced price.

grow up a bit guys. it's a new alt. in the uk we have had 3 on general releases so thats only 2 molds, at least there you have a better selection of remolds than us. sorry about the rant but thats all that seems to happen when a new alt is sighted, even that sweet windcharger repaint thats surfaced many complained about just because it didn't have it's barrel for the gun again. (decides not to post again until he calms down)

Well, why not take an Alternator at $20, and compare it to, say, collector-model cars of the same size, or other Transformers figures that have less detail/articulation, etc...

Really, again, we knew all along that repaints/remolds were coming. That's how we were getting figures in the price range we are - that's always been the plan.

I'm not saying you have to get Swervimus or anything, just that it doesn't seem reasonable to complain that Hasbro's 'suddenly being cheap' when we've known all along that every mold in the line was going to see heavy reuse to help ease the cost of design and licensing. That's never exactly been a Hasbro secret.

The only problem is that the license plate reads "SWERVE"... The head also has the bullet shape that Swerve's did...

it is a prototype though, like windcharger was overdrive, deadend was sunstreaker, swindle was trailbreaker. they seem to be doing first season Tf's

This is a test shot, not a prototype. The Dead End proto didn't have a license plate or anything. Heck, it wasn't even in black (or yellow) plastic.

You say "we've known all along that every mold was going to get heavy reuse"

But others say, "werent there only supposed to be two reuses per mold?"

Where are all of you getting your info?

What i am wondering now is, does the use of Swerve, indicate a change up from G1 characters (Since Swerve as a truck was never really a character anyway) and expanding to Universe Characters? I mean the idea of a Red-sports car really does sound more like TFU than G1-S3....

It would be nice to see a more extensive remolding, than just color and head.

here`s a novel idea, what if it isn`t the original Swerve but the US name for Ehobby exclusive Roadrage, a femme made from G1 Tracks?I highly doubt that Corvette would appreciate their car getting the name Roadrage slapped on it and this could be how hasbro appeases them and gives us the first female alternator.and Swerve while being originally assigned to a male TF could also indicate the 'swerve' of her female form.

I was actually thinking the same thing. This can go two ways.. Swerve would be more fitting for a pick up or something.. I don't see it for a vette though, sorry. But Roadrage? I'd be more than happy with that. But knowing how things are gonna be, it's probably gonna be Swerve.. :tfmad

Not that I don't mind having Swerve as an alt.. just NOT as a freakin vette!

Swerve "as a truck" *was* a G1 cartoon character, just an obscure one. And he most definitely was nothing at all like a Corvette. I just don't get the G1 grab bag approach that HasTak has been taking. Overdrive... Ravage... Swerve...

If its real Ill buy it. Oh wait hasbro cant figure out how to distribute there ALTs properly, so I guess not. Im still waiting for tracks and meister :wtf

I do mind Swerve being a red truck Alt b/c it should be Ironhide... priorities, Hastak!

Going off of memory here, but I remember that it was 'at least two reuses, with some remolding', and, well, for the US audience we have Tracks, Ravage, and Swerve. Looks like two reuses for the mold to me, and considering that the alt will be 'out of date' when Swerve is released, it may be the last use of that particular mold after all.

No one ever promised that it was G1 only, though. That was 'fandom' stuff. Weren't Hasbro explicit at some point in saying that Alternators was not G1, but an homage to classic characters. Yeah, TFU Swerve is a weird one to pick (not compared to BW2 Thrust, mind you), but it makes some sense when you consider how 'hot' an item the infamous 'Red Tracks' is.

It's a good recolor, and the head alone is a nice touch for me. Keep in mind, most TF lines through the years had zero remolding done for their repainted characters. I mean, what are we really comparing Alts to in this regard? Energon? G1? Armada? G2? RID? Universe? Maybe a little of Galaxy Force and BW2.. but, there's just not a lot of precedent there.
