why walmart will not carry tf anymore

Recommended Posts

I don't think I buy it either. Wal-Mart has sold TFs at those prices for years. Why would Hasbro suddenly care now?

Yeah, i call BS too. This is more "Walmart is Teh Debil!!!111!one!" crap.

Universe got canned cause it had poor sales. Other stuff is on clearance because all toy overstock goes on clearance in January for the post-xmas/pre-inventory-aisle reset. The mod/planograms show everything else returning.

Wal-Mart did it to themselves.  If the toy companies do not want to sell their products at Wal-Mart that's fine.  There's always Target, K-Mart, TRU, KB Toys, Meijer's, and several other places to get their products.

I won't flinch one bit if Transformers were no longer available at Wal-Mart.  Afterall, I haven't bought a TF at Wal-Mart in months, I've bought all my TFs at Target.

Yeah...YOU might not flinch, but some other people only have a Walmart to go to to get TF's (besides the INTERNET which is always overpriced). I personally have a lot of stores to shop from also, but Walmart usually has the best selection, and who doesn't love lower prices?

I don't really understand why Hasbro cares if they sell the toys at lower prices. Is it because other corporate buyers are putting pressure on Hasbro to put pressure on Walmart?

Might be a GOOD selection for you. My Wal-Mart has the worst toy section in the world.

When you factor in the cost for gas by going around and trying to find figures, the difference is almost made up.

Hasbro needs to make money. With Wal-Mart, any company that deals with them loses money because Wal-Mart is very agressive when buying. The companies have to give in because Wal-Mart gets to the most people so they figure they might as well take the loss instead of taking the much greater loss of not being at Wal-Mart at all.

FACT: All companies have and always WILL care about the prices at Wal-Mart. You don't hear this stuff on the news, but if you read business news (like I do) you realize that this price problem has been around for a long time. The toy companies gave TRU the most exclusives during this last holiday season than any other store. The toy companies cannot keep losing money like they have been.

The only way something like this would happen is if all the toy companies worked together to remove their products from Wal-Mart. But the chance of this happening isn't very great. I wouldn't care since I have plenty of places to stop at on my commute to and from work (which is pretty long). But realize that this most likely won't happen. I never said in my post it will, but if it did, fine.

Wal-Mart is the only place that has "canned" Universe and/or the Alternators (my Wal-Mart only has Energon.) I can still get Universe at Target or TRU.

This may be part of a strategy to prop up TRU. If Hasbro don't sort out the distribution problems, it's going to backfire on them in a nasty way.

Sigh...too bad my only other stores(Target, K-mart, TRU) mostly just carry Energon. Wal-marts here are the only place for new Alts and Universe. And we rarely get anything new, at that. :tdown

Hmmm........ Binaltech isn't selling too well in Japan, and now Hasbro may be indirectly cutting distribution on Alts. Not great news for the line. :tfmad :tfmad

Man that sucks. If it is true of course. I have to go to the internet as well but for me the shipping costs and import fees are jacking up the price.

One can find stuff for decent prices though. JRStoyworld never had Bulkhead in stock (I think, could be wrong there) but just after it was released I found it for $25 on eBay. And with the gas prices and such sometimes buying stuff for a slightly higher price is cheaper than looking for it.

Anyways, sad to hear Universe got Downsized. The problem was that they repainted figures which had been redone plenty of times and in bad color schemese I might add. The later releases kick ass.

And then I am talking about Nemesis Prime and the Micromaster Combiners. Now that is a smart repainting move. I am also looking for Air Raid and Wind Sheer but I cannot find those for a reasonable price. :tfsad

I do own all 3 original Cyberjets but they are MOC so I do not want to open them. I got one of them in a action lot and is is a cool figure. With Air Raid and Wind Sheer, I would finally have a set.

But I do hope Universe continues and with better figures. The G1 Turbomasters and Prdedators spring to mind. Beast Wars Rattrap and the G1 Pretender Monsters would also be cool additions. :thumb

where the hell am i supposed to buy tfs now??? if walmart stops selling them, im screwed

Alright, let's look at a few things brought up here.

First off, that post was almost unreadable. I'm not one to usually critique spelling and all that in posts, but c'mon - a basic 4th-grade English mastery isn't too much to ask. That being said, I'm not sure I trust info from someone who types like that.

Next, as for the supplier/retailer price wars... the Robinson-Patman Act bans any form of price discrimination, meaning that whatever unit cost Hasbro is selling to Wal*Mart at must also be the unit cost they're selling to other retailers at. So, when Wal*Mart strongarms Hasbro into a lower selling price, that money isn't being made up anywhere else because they're forced to reduce their prices to Target, TRU, etc. as well.

Overall, given that profitability is the key factor in the continuance of any product line, I sincerely hope that Wal*Mart does indeed pull the plug on TFs. I believe the line is strong enough to survive w/o them, and will be a good step towards securing the line's future in the long run. Sorry to all those who have no local access to other stores beyond Wal*Mart, but it's best for everyone if this would come to pass.
