These are the two concpets I've come up with for turning a spare Alt Hound of mine into an Alt Trailbreaker.

 

The mods will be...

- nossle/gun replaces left fist (it will either be telescoping or hinged to fold away)

- make a custom clip on hardtop out of flat styrene, with handle to use as a shield - (hardtop will be Jeep accurate, not G1 TB accurate)

- create tailpipe looking thingy for shoulder, which will hide under custom hardtop

- make a visor for eyes

- get a cheapo bar set for front grill, or make a simpler one out of styrene tubing

- shave the top of Hound's head flat

- extensive paint apps

 

...okay so I've come up with this one which has legs more reminiscent of the G1 toy

 

...and a slight variation (obvious, on legs) more reminiscent of the G1 cartoon/comic version...

 

OKay so, I need opinions on the whole design, but I'm also stuck specifically on which way the legs should be...which one says "I'm Trailbreaker!". Also the colors on the arms are a throwback to G1 TB's original stickers. What do you think?

I've been planning one for a while also but was waiting to see whether or not one of the upcoming truck releases turns out to be TB first. I personally would have used swindle due to the head and grille at the front, as well as the enlarged tyres. Toy colour scheme is the one I'd go with. Hardtop idea sounds good, although I was planning to make it integral rather than a shiled as with one hand already replaced he won't have a spare to hold his pistol. I would also consider attaching the force field projector to the head itself so it folds away with it. Bets of luck with the custom and post pics!!

I would have used Swindle too, but I only have an extra Hound. The thing I don't get about people saying Swindle was supposed to be TB is that the head isn't the same at all, besides the visor. TB's cartoon head was pretty much just a flatter version of Alt Hound's.

 

I also like the Idea of his nozzle being his weapon, even though he actually carried a pistol. Just trying to separate him from Hound and Swindle a little more with the nozzle and shield combo.

 

Folding the projector with the head is a good ida, but I don't know how I'd make it fit.

 

Anyway thanks for the encouragement...any comment on the color schemes, Streak?

NICE! I'm really Feelin' the 1st one as THE 'TRAILBREAKER'...The Red Upper Legs & Behind-the-Head ForceField-Projecter really seal the deal.

 

Hopefully (IF we get) one from HasTak will be HALF as Cool...

I was actually going for a silver, but it didn't come out that great on PS. It will certainly be darker.

i like the first pic...thats going to be one nice kitbash! where is the rocket launcher going when it transforms?

Definitely the first colour scheme IMO. Looks more unique than the other one as hound has the same colour legs. Another thought I had for the hardtop was possibly plastic molding with a hot plate/rod. Just a thought. Digibash is awesome by the way. Look forward to seeing it.
