As for Rebirth. Do not be so harsh. I saw the David Wise interview on the final G1 DVD box set. He was forced to cut down the story from 5 to 3 episodes. Considering that, the story is not all that bad except for the end.

Personally, I think the G1 -> BW continuity makes a whole lot more sense if you ignore everything that happened in Season 3 and "Rebirth." (The only thing you would miss out on is the reference to the Plasma Energy Chamber in BM, but so what.) Specifically, the backstory of BW assumes that there were Decepticons on Cybertron to be pardoned or turned into Predacons or whatever. In Rebirth they were all shot out into space. Also, if Optimus Prime had stayed dead, it would have better explained why he wasn't around anymore in the Beast era. (Of course, neither was anyone else from G1, but let's be honest -- we don't miss them so much. :P) JMO

Answer that can inspire -no- controversy whatsoever:

 

Car Robots 'baddies' were all Destrongers that were an elite team of Destron forces that are able to travel across time and space. Cybertrons/Bots were the Dimensional Force and followed.

 

So, there's nothing in the series saying where the Preds -don't- fit in. Meaning, they can fit in how you want. However, there's also nothing official saying /how/ they fit in. So however you fit them in will be unofficial as anyone else's.

 

Can you see TF: TM redone with RiD chars? Magnus could run them over in truck mode, taking Prime's spot in the Con-killing spree.

 

And there's nothing in the Japanese continuity that contradicts the US "continuity". However you want to see -that-. Just Rebirth. 3 episodes. Which is pretty much ignored in later TF continuity anyway. Toss out season 4.1-4.3 and a lot more stories fit into a continuity better.
