RID Preds

Recommended Posts

time travel, In CarRobots.

Like the beast wars guys that fought in prehistoric earth, but were from the 23rd century, same with the Preds (destrongers, an elite group of Destrons), and the Autobots, Who were on a team called "The Cyberton Dimensional Patrol".

Car Robots rounds out the Japanese Beast Wars Trilogy, which was a direct spin off of our Beast Wars, and not necessarly tied, with 80's Jap continunity.

(IE, notta single reference to Japanese 80's shows, but directly connected with our 23rd century Beast era. Stasis pods, protoforms, whatnot.)

And to say that the Japanese Beast Wars spin off wasnt connected To our American Beast Wars, we have Primal in the Beast Wars 2 movie, PLUS Magmatron from Neo, is the exact same damn character in the BM american Dinobots line. And his tech specs even reference BW Neo's events.

ZING!!!!! CarRobots sucked!!!!

Well, okay, just the "Predacon" characters.

Well, okay, Gigatron (happy, Xbob?) was cool.

Why is there this compulsive need to make every TF series neatly tie into every other one? Is this latent G1 continuity-problem angst? A failure to get out more often? Can't we just accept the fact that CarRobots was written as a standalone series? What's so horrible about that?

And it's not like the name predacon hasn't been used a lot. I think it's just a cool name that has been used troughout time by different factions that don't have anything to do with each other. Here are the ones I remember:

- G1 predacons. Everyone's favorite vicious, adorable, wild animal combiner group.

- BW predacons. A rag tag bunch of criminals who would kill their own mother in a nanosecond.

- RID predacons. Possibly related to BW, but not conclusively.

- DW predacons. Remeber this bunch? Starscream formed his own faction after failing to overthrow Shockwave as leader of the decepticons. They mostly faced off with Grimlock's LSC faction.

The Japanese series do not fit into US continuity at all. Best to disregard them alltogether which I do. To be honest I do not like the show at all. (The Matrix referred to as a power pack? Nightbeat as a female WTF :wtf )

And Cybertron was destroyed and in Beast Wars it was still there. So that settles that. (They did have cool Transformers though.)

R.I.D., Armada and Energon are seperate series alltogether so no sense in trying to link those together.

As for Rebirth. Do not be so harsh. I saw the David Wise interview on the final G1 DVD box set. He was forced to cut down the story from 5 to 3 episodes. Considering that, the story is not all that bad except for the end.

Personally, I think the G1 -> BW continuity makes a whole lot more sense if you ignore everything that happened in Season 3 and "Rebirth." (The only thing you would miss out on is the reference to the Plasma Energy Chamber in BM, but so what.) Specifically, the backstory of BW assumes that there were Decepticons on Cybertron to be pardoned or turned into Predacons or whatever. In Rebirth they were all shot out into space. Also, if Optimus Prime had stayed dead, it would have better explained why he wasn't around anymore in the Beast era. (Of course, neither was anyone else from G1, but let's be honest -- we don't miss them so much. :P) JMO

Rodimus Prime Left To Rebuild in Headmasters, and In BW Neo Victer Sigmas a Big Statue instead of a golden ball so that sortof suports that argument!

I think Prime and his Autobots were on another planet or on one of Cybertron's moons during BM

I saw that interview too. He was bent at the idea of 5 eps down to 3,

and he made Optimus play a big part which was cool.

As far as the R.I.D. preds, I want to forget about them.

The RID Preds were stupid, they all act like Waspinator in someways.
