i dunnor excepr in rid they are but i always thought orian pax friend that was blue (cant remember his name) would be redone by alpha-trion as well like he did for elita- one hence ultra magnus both created by a-3 wouldnt that make them brothers

I agree. Except in the RiD continuity, they were brothers. They were old friends. And I wouldn't be to personally surprised if Magnus is indeed Orion Pax's blue buddy turned Ultra Magnus.

For me, anything that is officially approved by Hasbro whether it is cartoon or comics are canon.

In that case, I hope you're prepared for a gi-normous headache. The comics and the cartoon are probably best described as "alternate realities," since they differ from each other in so many ways. And Dreamwave trying to straddle the fence isn't making things any clearer. Point is, there's no "one" source of TF history, unless you choose to only acknowledge one of those sources.

For me, it's the cartoon, only because I never read the Marvel comics. But I'm fine if people want to go by the comics instead of the show. I'm even fine with people going by the DW version -- at least it's internally consistent.

But in terms of UM and OP being brothers... well, you would have to mean that metaphorically. When you're talking about mechanical beings with no DNA and no "genetic traits", there's no reason why two TFs should be "brothers" just because they look alike. Hello? You could crank these bodies out on an assembly line, just like the Quints did.

To me, if you're really going to talk about TFs being "brothers," you would have to be talking about something to do with their sparks. Some basic similarity or commonality of origin -- something like that. They might look totally different from each other, because their bodies are just shells, unlike organic beings, who bear physical resemblances to their relatives.

And anyway, this whole thing evolved from the fact that UM and OP were originally Diaclone toys with the same cab. It's a cute way to explain their connection, and it makes for some fun fanfic (a.k.a. "Dreamwave"), but I think it's just another retcon that people can either choose to accept or not.

i remember when i first got the um toy way back in the day. i at first thought they were brothers. . .but then i was like 8 years old. now i think they're just "brothers in arms." and i think the ultimate transformer says sunstreaker and sideswipe are brothers because the original spark split into two seperate sparks. . .like twins. . .but then they don't look exactly alike and by human standards their spark splitting would make them identical twins where as fraternal twins are just two eggs being fertilized in the womb.

it would be nice if dw explained the whole armor thing. i've seen people refer to naked um as just magnus and then the whole ultra part when he has his armor.
