Hey everyone,

 

I just found this forum and thought I would share a couple of my recent kitbashes (actually repaints) of some Energon figures. I guess I should start by saying when I do repaints I try to stick to the whole gang molding concept where all pieces that are the same color were molded together. I figure I could have done a straight kitbash and painted these up like their G1 counterparts, but trying to match colors using the original gang molding patterns is a little more challenging and fun. So it's almost as if these could actually be produced if Hasbro did some paint ap changes to match. :)

 

Silverstreak

This one looks better in person. For some reason the silver I used doesn't quite match the actual plastic, but it isn't as noticable in person as it is in these pics. And if anyone cares I mix and matched parts from both Energon Hot Shots to make this. Damn those head lights are a pain to get out.

The purple is lighter than I wanted, but I still like the way it turned out. Following the gang mold on this one was a little tough since I wanted the "horn" to be silver I had to make the bug legs silver too. And since I wanted the bug head and robot chest to be purple the robot arms had to be purple too. So I added some black to the wing section to kind of emulate the old Bombshell's look.

Nice looking customs... ALMOST makes me like the HotShot mold... Almost. (I hate the Armada/Energon line...) Damn good job on the repaints though! Both look great!

I never really liked either of those molds, but damn have you done a great job on them or what....they look so much better now, and not just because they have the G1 vib now. :thumb

Also not too fond of either of these molds (why I haven't bought them). Seeing your excellent repaints I'm almost tempted.

i have to agree with everyone else, i don't particularly like the hot shot mold... but your repaint makes it SO WORTHWHILE TO TRY!!!
