Wow, they actually tried that twice? I was thinking of the lab coats in MTMTE.

I skimmed this thread, so I don't know if anyone else posted this or if it's already been debated to said death, but here goes:

OK, I know the Autobots are supposed to stop the Decepticons from threatening any sentient creature wherever they go. Yet, we've only caught glimpses of alien worlds in G1 and other subsequent series when the Decepticons threaten them. Now, my question is, why wouldn't the Autobots set up a permanent presence there to dissuade any further Decepticon activity on said alien world. The closest that I can think of was Paradron, but that was a peaceful world for both Autobot and Decepticon. Shouldn't there technically be an Autobot HQ (or at least a depot) on these threatened worlds?

That's called "imperialism." I don't think the Autobots' main concern is saving the universe from the Decepticons. Their purpose is to stop the Decepticons from gaining the energy they need to conquer Cybertron. True, once that were to happen, they would move on to other places, but the Autobots' concern IMO has always been centered around protecting their homeworld from the Decepticons.

here is another. what happened to the autobots after the great war, did they just disband, or were they erradicated, and why did the new faction not take the name autobot, instead of maximal
