Any TF issues that HAVEN'T been debated to death?

Recommended Posts

I'm with MP and LM. My interest level in actual TF discussion kinda fluctuates. Most of the time I don't post in the TFGD or Toy Discussion areas unless something catches my eye that seems either potentially hilarious or blatantly stupid.

INH and GD are why I keep coming back. I have a grand total of six Energon figures. One is Starscream and the rest are Omnicons and Terrorcons. Which kinda tells you how interested in the recent toy designs I am ...

As for GF/Cybertron .... well, I may end up getting 3 or four of the toys in the line, but probably not much more than that.

Here's a question : Aside from Soundwave getting smuggled into a place as a tape deck, when did the the alt mode ever actually get used as a disguise? In that sense Rock Lords had the best 'disguise' alt modes ....

Never hear about Battletrap.

Rad, Alexis and Carlos pretnded that there Minicons were bikes, scooters, and a "scatebaord from the 80's"

Well I got some questions, anyone feel free to answer but cite your authority to verify your claims.

How much did the average G1 tv episode cost to produce? Factor in overhead costs for the acetate, cel painters, filming, voice actors, background artists, editing, directing, qc etc.

Also when TF:TM came out what was the cost to product it?

How well was it received in the terms of ticket sales in the USA vs JP?

And what studio or collector currently houses the largest cel collection from the G1 tv series and/or TF:TM?

If anyone can answer these questions with links to their sources I'd appreciate it greatly. THanks!

I can sort of answer one of those questions (but with no documentation): TF:TM lost money at the box office. I read it on the Internet if that helps at all. :P

If only OP were a truck full of monkeys.

You know, for me, I'm mostly interested in the cool toys.  I don't really have strong feelings about the whole story part of it; I tend to make up my own.  So from that perspective, I think most of my on-topic posts have read something like "d00d that rawks" or something.

If the target market weren't young kids, I wonder if they couldn't do more detailed information about battle strategies.  I mean, most of the fights end up just being people show up, stand ten feet from each other, and shoot until someone gives up.  But on the other hand, these guys are supposed to be in disguise.  Rarely do alt modes really come up in an intelligent sort of way.  I wonder if they couldn't find a way to make that a more integral part of the story.

I dunno, that's probably not too helpful.  rawk 0n!1!!11!!

they were, in the beast era.

Were they had different abilities, shielded from energon overload and detection by vehicons, and were also handy and nifty in attacks.

Sigh.

I miss those days.

*senses developing Transtech angst* :P

Yeah. I mean, I get excited when a new TF line comes out, just like anyone else. Well... at least for the most part. I was very not excited about Armada, because it looked lame (and behold, I was right). But you know, I like GF Convoy and Darth Maul's Spaceship Convoy and WW Starscream and all of that, but I'm probably not going to buy any of them. I only ever bought two Energon figures, and they're both in my son's collection right now. I've been able to get all the TFs I want (with the exception of some G1 figures that I'll never be able to afford) and I'm pretty content with my little collection. :)

I guess it's just hard for me to get excited about something that is so clearly geared towards kids, now that I'm an adult. I still enjoy the Beast era stuff because it was written intelligently, and of course I grew up with G1 so there's some big-time nostalgia there. But... eh. I know that kids' shows don't have to be infantile and unimaginative to succeed (ever see any classic Warner Brothers cartoons?), and I wish that people would put the effort in that they once did. But at the same time, I shouldn't expect Hasbro or anyone else to cater to adults when developing a show that's designed to sell toys.

Dang, this *is* turning into a Transtech thread... :tflaugh

Hey, when I saw Armada Prime I said hey, he looks pretty darn similar to G1. I like Super Armada Optiimus. I bought it and I was like "Wow the f**ker has knees....that bend! Cool" That kind of got me back into collectiong. See, I hadn't seen any of the RID and Beast Wars figs. All I remember was G1, and that 99% didn't have knees.

I'll tell you one thing that I'm so darn sick of is every Megatron has to turn into Galvatron. TF The Movie it was a complete re-formatting and was like whoa. Now it's like, let's re-paint the Megs in the blindness inducing purple and whatever colors. I'm tired of that stuff, they have totally cheapened the original Transformation from Megs to Galvy.

Thats HABL0's chiose In japan the only Galvatrons were G1 Galvatron(new mold), BW Galvatron(new charector), and SL-Galvatron(new mold)

It's still too many. The original concept was cool. To repeat it few times cheapens it.
