This story picks up not too long where "Raising the Past" leaves off.

Chapter 1

"It's been quite some time since I've been on Earth" though Sideswipe while looking out at the water from an Ocean City window.

Indeed. This was the first time in a long time that he, and his fraternal twin brother Sunstreaker, his friend Hound, and the two Dinobots, Grimlock and Swoop, were last on Earth. His last memories of Earth were mostly before Autobot City was built and Ultra Magnus, and his small crew of Autobots became involved in the Great War.

Suddenly somebody tapped Sideswipe on the shoulder, startling him.

"Relax. It's me." It was Hot Shot. Sideswipe had seen this Autobot on Cybertron not too long after he was revived. Hot Shot seemed to be wanting something, so Sideswipe just figured better to get it over with then not dealing with it at all.

"What's up Hot Shot?" said Sideswipe.

"I was just wondering something. I know that you and Sunstreaker are brothers, but there's something I don't understand. If you guys are twins, why don't you look even remotely identical."

Sideswipe thought about it and came to the conclusion that what he knew, Hot Shot didn't. He found out on Earth that humans sometimes give what they call birth to two more humans and call them twins. But twins that aren't identical are called fraternal. And fraternal twins can be either boy and girl, or both of the same gender, but they just don't look alike.

"Well, Hot Shot, it works like this. He and I are indeed twins, but we're what humans would call "fraternal" twins. We're twins, but we don't look alike. If you really want to find out more, why don't you ask a human, like Kicker or Mischa."

"Uh. That doesn't really answer my question, but okay."

As Hot Shot was leaving the room, Sunstreaker was just entering.

"Hey bro. I was just looking at some of the stuff they have here. I figured that maybe I could...Is something wrong?" asked Sunstreaker.

Sideswipe looked at his brother with a look that basically said "I don't want to talk about it". but he said something anyway.

"Sunstreaker. Since we've gotten here on Earth, have you wondered if anything remains of the Ark. There were some things left there that I never got a chance to pack up before we had to leave it. Some things that were really important to me."

"Not really, but now that you mention it, I kind of think that some of my old mural equipment was there and it still might be."

"Why don't we ask Optimus if we could go and see if there's anything left, and if there is, if we could salvage what we're looking for." said Sideswipe.

Sunstreaker had remembered that his old concieted, egotistical, and contemptuous attitude didn't always work with him, or to his advantage when dealing with fellow Autobots, including Optimus Prime. He figured that his son would be no different. And that it might not be a good idea. But when he saw how important this request was to his brother, he decided to try and not let his attitude get in the way of his brother's wants.

"Sure Sideswipe, let's go ask him."

In what may have been a blurr of redness, Sideswipe was up and ready to go find Prime and ask him his request. He also had a simle on his face as well.

Chapter 2

"Ahhh. Earth just as I remember it. Isn't it beautiful Starscream. Energon, and it's ripe for the picking. And with those meddlesome Autobots on Cybertron, causing their numbers reduced with the exception of the Omnicons, now would be an ideal time to attack. Why don't you take our two helicopter friends and Sixshot with you and see if you can find the Autobots." said Galvatron.

This was only after the Decepticon ship landed on Earth. It was quite easy too. with a large amount of Energon used up when it was sent to help the Autobots fight him when he was Megatron, the Energon grid was severly weakened, resulting in a loss of power for it, meaning that without it, a raid would be very easy to accomplish. Now the only thing he had to truly worry about, was getting out of here before they had time to raise a new Energon grid.

************************

Sideswipe was kind of anxious. He was unsure if Optimus would even think about granting him his request. But he figured he had to try.

"Optimus, can I..." started Sideswipe.

But Sunstreaker, sensing his brother's slight nervousness cut in and finished saying it with ease, keeping his ego down to a minimum. "We, go somewhere and find something we left here no Earth years ago?"

Optimus, not sure of what they're asking could only say one thing to get them to explain, otherwise he decided he wouldn't let them do what it was they wanted to do. "Go on."

Sunstreaker continued. "Well, as you know, the Ark is still here on Earth. It's been abandoned for some time. When we had to leave it, Sideswipe and myself had no choice but to leave a few things behind. We were wondering if maybe we could go and see if we could salvage those items, if at all?"

Optimus pondered "Hmm." There was a slight advantagous aspect of letting them do this. If Wheeljack went with them, he could possibly find a way to download Teletran-1 onto a disc so that they could have it at Ocean City. And maybe they would find some stuff that could be useful.

After considering the pros and cons, with the pros outweighing the cons, Optimus said "Okay. But, you need to take Roadblock and Landmine for moving things around safely since they're construction vehicles. I also want you to take Wheeljack with you for the purpose of possibly obtaining the system of Teletran-1. I think it might be helpful in locating new sources of Energon for us. If you can agree to these things, then yes. You two may go Sunstreaker."

Sideswipe just beamed. This was the best news he'd heard all day. He immediately transformed into his vehicle mode and revved up his engine ready to go. Optimus chuckled. He then pressed a button activating the PA system and said "Wheeljack, Roadblock and Landmine, please report to command."

A few minutes later, the three of them had been briefed and the five Autobots were ready. They figured it wouldn't be so bad. Mischa, from bridge control, instead of activating the space bridge, she activated a new type of space bridge designed by Wheeljack to take them from one point on Earth to another in a matter of minutes. Wheeljack called it a Global Space Bridge.

The five of them went in, and a few minutes later, they were in a desert that was all too familiar to the twins. Then they saw it. The volcano that the Ark had crash landed in over four million years ago.

Galvatron waited for Starscream's return from his little scouting mission. "Ahh. There he is." He decided to wait and see what news Starscream had to report.

Chapter 3

"Sideswipe, do you have the access codes to Teletran-1?" asked Wheeljack once they were inside.

"I don't but Sunstreaker might. And if he doesn't, why don't you try and figure it out yourself. You are Wheeljack's son, aren't you?"

"Hey, Sideswipe, ease off. Yeah, I have them Wheeljack. Why don't I log you in, and you do your thing from there. In the meantime" (he said this adding a bit of tensity, namely towards Sideswipe) "we can go into our old quarters and get our stuff." Sunstreaker finished this with a sharp glare at his brother.

Roadblock and Landmine just hung around outside of the ship.

"Hey, Landmine. Do you think they'll find whatever it is that they're looking for?"

"Maybe Roadblock. Hopefully they will, and quick. I have a feeling that something tells me we shouldn't have left Ocean City. I think the Decepticons are here on Earth."

Before Roadblock could argue that compliment, his comm unit went off. "Roadblock here. What's up?"

It was Hot Shot, and he sounded worried. "When are you guys getting back here. The Decepticons are here, and they're attacking Ocean City. Kicker and Mischa are out of danger, but we need you guys to come back....." and before the message could continue, there was static.

Roadblock looked up at Landmine with worry. "Uh-oh."

Landmine told Roadblock that he would stand guard and he should go and tell them that the Decepticons were attacking and to hurry up with whatever they were doing.

********************

"Ahh, there's nothing like scrapping Autobots in the morning."

Galvatron was really pleased that Starcream had found an entrance into Ocean City so the Decepticons could get in and take care of the Autobots. And he still hasn't seen any of those new Autobots.

All of a sudden, Galvatron felt himself go flying down towards the ground. After he landed, he turned around and saw Optimus Prime combined with Wing Saber hovering in the air, with his blaster pointed directly at him.

"Galvatron. What are you doing here, and more importantly, how did you get in. I thought you were on Cybertron. What happened, did the Energon gas start effecting you too."

Galvatron just grinned and got up to confront Prime. "No you fool. With a fair amount of your warriors on Cybertron with their five new creations, I decided to take advantage of your decreased forces. And it appears that I'....YEEOOUCH! What just bit me?"

He turned around and realized he'd instead of being right, he was without a doubt definitely wrong. Because staring him in the face was the tyrannosaurus Autobot he saw on Cybertron. And it had some metal in its jaws. He looked down at himself and saw that he was missing some plating and that his inner circuitry was exposed.

"Me Grimlock no like you. Grimlock Transform!" Grimlock transformed and wielded the Energon Saber with the ferocity of his beast mode, as if it could itself hold a weapon such as a sword.

Galvatron saw that he'd underestimated the Autobots and that instead of risking it, he'd better get out of there and rethink his strategy.

He activated his comlink and sent a message out. "All Decepticons. Retreat and regroup. We've got to rethink our strategy."

"Galvatron, do you hear me. It's Starscream. The Autobots have just activated their new Energon Grid. We can't leave Earth. And if we leave Ocean City, and try to leave Earth, we'll be destroyed, even you and me, despite the fact that we were soaked in Super Energon."

Galvatron just looked at Prime realizing his plan was to hold them here long enough to be able to prevent their escape off of Earth. Now the battle would forever be here. But then Galvatron had a thought.

"Prime. You think you've caught me. But you know something, you just cut off your chances of recieving reinforcements from Cybertron."

"Wrong Galvatron. Don't forget, the Autobots have clearance as long as they have the correct codes. The Decepticons will never have clearance. And yes, I did think of that earilier before I activated the grid and sent the codes to my backup crew. And I'm not telling you where they are.

********************

"Hey guys. We'd better hurry our tailpipes. Ocean City is under attack and it sounds like they could use our help." Roadblock screamed into the ship. Hoping it wasn't falling on deactivated audio sensors, he decided to go and round them up to find them himself. "Landmine, stay here, I'll go and get them."

"Gotcha."

********************

"Hmmm, 50% downloaded. I wonder what the problem is. What a minute. That's odd, it's picking up a signal from and Autobot. But the signal seems a bit old. Almost as if it originated years ago. I'll look into it and then continue my downloading." Wheeljack saw this and proceeded with his plan. He allowed the signal to finish and activated the message. It then went into an audio phase, but the message was so old, that it had deteriorated a little bit, so only a little bit was able to be comprehended.

"Finished search......nothing......can't find city.......going to search elsewhere........Dec. 20th.......snow everywhere.......Arctic reigon......circuitry freezing......temperature dropping below allowed levels externally......hopefully.......Autobots......find me....."

"Hey, Wheeljack. We're done with what we needed to find." said Sunstreaker. "Something wrong?"

"Yeah, something's wrong." said Roadblock inturrupting before Wheeljack could say anything. "Ocean City is under attack, we've got to go and help. Did you guys finish up here yet?"

"Not yet. I still have to finish downloading Teletran-1. But I came across an old signal from an Autobot. But the signal is almost 18 years old. So it's kind of broken. I was hoping to investigate it. I was able to pinpoint the origin of the signal. It's in the Arctic reigon. But it's from an area that seems kind of rich in Energon. So I was hoping that the five of us could go and check it out."

"I'm not sure we should." said Sideswipe. He did what he came for and was ready to leave. "Besides, Roadblock is right. We probably should go back to Ocean City."

Sunstreaker was not liking the new attitude his brother was forming. He just about had enough of it. "Sideswipe. I can't believe you. I remember you as being an Autobot who used to want to jump at a chance like this to help a fellow Autobot. Despite the danger it presented to yourself. You, unlike me, were very unegotistical. I usually was very hesitant to go, afraid that I would damage my paint job. But you know what, I've learned something. Not everything revolves around my being in a perfectly presentable state. It's like we're switching roles. I'm not minding the role I'm falling into, but the one you're going to, I'm not liking at all. I've decided that Wheeljack and I are going to investigate the signal source. You can come along with the FOUR of us if you want. But I'm not going to make you. It's your choice!"

Sideswipe just looked at his brother, stunned for a moment. Then he decided to speak. "Gee. Sunstreaker, I didn't know you felt like that. I'm sorry. I guess it's just that I miss the old crew. You know, Bluestreak, Jazz, Cosmos, and the rest. But you're right. We can't be like that. We need to be more aware. It's a new time for us. We need to go and check it out. Can I come along. Will you accept my apology?"

Sunstreaker looked at his brother for a moment and realized he was being serious. He decided to in fact accept his brother's apology. They shook hands and along with Wheeljack, who had just finished downloading Teletran-1, Roadblock, and Landmine, transformed and left for the Arctic reigon to find the Autobot that sent out the distress call.

Chapter 4

It seemed so familiar, yet so new to Sideswipe. He recognized this as the area Gears said that he and some of the Autobots went with Spike and his father Sparkplug and met the Autobot Skyfire. He wished he had not missed the mission, and now he can see the beauty of the Arctic reigon.

"It's so beautiful." commented Wheeljack. "I just wish we had some skis to make the driving easier."

"Yeah, we do. It would make this driving so much easier and we wouldn't necessarily have to go slower than we are, allowing us to get to where we have to go faster." said Landmine, who was kind of bringing up the rear.

"Ah, quit your bellyaching." said Roadblock. "Just appreciate that this is one of the few areas that the Decepticons still have knowledge of. I wasn't even aware of this place. Personally, I think we should let Optimus know of this place and make sure we have the ability to defend it from the Decepticons."

"Holy spark, what's that." yelled Wheeljack as he braked rather quickly. In front of them was a four legged beast with off white fur, kind of bulking, and just going at its own pace.

"I believe that's a po-lar beer." said Sunstreaker. He remembered learning about Earth animals with Spike.

After it had gone off, they continued, and it wasn't much farther before Wheeljack came to a halt and transformed, obviously letting the others know that they were where they were supposed to be.

"Okay, according to my scanner, we should be right...on...top...of......" and before Wheeljack could finish his statement, they fell through the ice. And poor Landmine had no choice but to follow since he still hadn't slowed and finally braked in his vehicle mode.

"What the slag happened." yelled Landmine, who had just about had enough of being in the rear and being the last and the one who was in the most amount of pain.

"The structural weight of the ice above must not have been well enough formed to support the combined weight of all of us." said Wheeljack. He then looked at his scanner, and the signal was about two feet in front of him, but the only problem was that in fron of him, in all but two directions, was a wall of one solid piece of ice. But the strange thing about the ice was that there were patterns of red here and there.

"I think there might be something in the ice. Landmine, can you dig it out?" asked Wheeljack.

Landmine, beginning to feel like he might finally be of some use other than just a muscle-bot said "Sure. Landmine, Brute Mode!"

He got right to work. Now all they could do was wait.

********************

"Well, Optimus, what do you think?" asked Hot Shot after the damages that were caused by the battle were repaired, the place looked somewhat like new.

"Not too shabby Hot Shot. Not too shabby. But onto another matter, you haven't heard back from the twins, Landmine, Roadblock, or Wheeljack, have you?"

"Negative sir. My last contact with them was just before the communications tower went. Hopefully, Tow-Line has fixed it and we can try and reach them."

"Let's go check." said Optimus, with an attitude that portrayed his namesake.

********************

"Well, except for a few small things here and there, our looong range communications are down, but our global ones are up and running sir." said Tow-Line to Optimus. "Was there anybody in particular you wanted to talk to boss?"

"Actually, yes Tow-Line. Can you patch me through to Wheeljack?" asked Optimus.

"No problem. One second here and I'll have you talking to the world if you want." he said with flair.

Optimus just "rolled" his optic sensors.

********************

*beep**beep**beep* *beep**beep**beep*. "Hmm." Wheeljack looked down and realized his communicator link was going off, meaning somebody was trying to reach him.

"Wheeljack here. Who's calling." was his response and he waited for the one from the caller.

It came through, but kind of staticy. "Wheeljack, it's Optimus. Where are you. I can barely hear you on the other end. I thought you were just going to northwest United States to get some stuff from the Ark."

"We're in the Arctic reigon. I got an old signal that the Ark had recieved about 18 years ago. So we decided to check it out. We fell through the ice, and now Landmine is digging for whatever is in there, because we found some traces of red here and there in this little ice cave. So we'll try and hurry up and get back."

"Okay. Don't rush the job, but don't go too slowly. With the Energon grid in place, the Decepticons are trapped on Earth, and I don't know when and where they're going to attack next, and next time, we could use our full forces. So keep up the pace and just try and hurry back, but report your findings too."

"Gotch Optimus. Wheeljack out."

With the communication over, all they could do in both Ocean City and the Arctic reigon is wait for Landmine to finish, with hope that he'll finish it quick.

Chapter 5

"Almost done...UGGHHH!" Landmine, if we was a human, probably would have been what Wheeljack has so often heard Kicker refered to as sweating.

"Well, it looks like some Cybertron citizen of some sort. Sidewsipe, Sunstreaker, do either of you kn..." Wheeljack looked at them while saying this and stopped, seeing as how they were just staring, with their mouths open, and their optics wide.

"Is that who I think it is Sunstreaker?"

"I'm pretty sure. If we can get him out of the ice, we'll be able to just go straight back to Ocean City without the use of the Global Space Bridge." said Sunstreaker.

Sideswipe turned to Wheeljack and asked "Do you think you can get this guy up and running. I know he's big, but he's quite handy in a variety of ways, and not just transport either."

********************

"Demolishor, come here." said Galvatron.

"Yeah, Galvatron. What's up?"

"I need you to go with the Constructicons and help them build us a new base of operations. Steamhammer is in charge, so don't get any ideas. Got it." Galvatron said this, clenching his teeth with the last remark, obviously meaning that he didn't want him goofing up the operation.

In a rather shaky voice, Demolishor said "Ye-ye-yes s-s-sir."

********************

"Welcome back to the land of the acitvated buddy." said Sunstreaker, as the optics powered up.

"Where am I? Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, my friends, but who are these three?" asked the mystery bot.

"Sorry, I'm Wheeljack, the son of the one that you worked with. This is Roadblock, and this is Landmine. Now that we've introduced ourselves. Who are you per say?" asked Wheeljack.

"Me. I'm Skyfire."

Oh sweet but going by you story so far wouldn`t he be Jet fire`s dad?

Shhh. Don't spoil the ending.

j/k.

But yes, I'm going to make it so that when he get's back to Ocean City, Jetfire is a little resentful of his dad not coming back and just "abandoning" him with his mom. So you'll have to see what Skyfire does in the next few chapters. I'll probably get to it later tonight though. But seriously, if you want to know where Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, and some of the other characters that I brought back come into the story, check out my other fanfic, Raising the Past

Chapter 6

"Hurry up Skyfire. I know you were frozen, but can you go any faster?" Roadblock asked this with extreme urgence in his tone.

Sideswipe, feeling that the "new guy" had no place to be bossing around a veteran Autobot, even if he was just restored to operational status from m.i.a.

"Hey! Ease up there buddy. He's older than you guys, so his technology isn't as up to date! So back off of my friend here."

They all fell silent, and Skyfire decided to reserve judgement. Sunstreaker decided to take his brother into the anteroom and give him a talking to.

He grabbed him by the arm and almost had to drag him.

The others just looked wide-opticed, and confused too.

Skyfire spoke up after the door closed. "I believe that they're going to have a, what did Sparkplug call it, oh yes, a man-to-man talk."

"Okay. Whatever." was Wheeljack's only response.

********************

"What the slag is the matter with you?!" yelled Sunstreaker.

Sideswipe just looked at his brother, completely in shock that he didn't understand where he was coming from.

"Hey, the kid was bossing Skyfi-"

Sunstreaker held up his hand, and then started to speak in a clam tone. "No. Listen. We're the new guys here. We may be the veterans, but we're still new. From what I understand, Bulkhead followed Rodimus' orders for a while. Also, remember Kup, he followed Bumblebee's orders, and the last time I checked, Bumblebee was a slag of a lot younger than Kup. So get this straight. I know you don't always like to follow orders, but try for me. I believe Primus gave Wheeljack the will to give us a second chance to make amends for things we didn't do right the first time around. It's still a war, and we're still just warriors. If you don't believe me, then we can talk to Optimus when we land. So remember, you may be a veteran, but here, at this time, in this war, you're the new guy, and so am I, Grimlock, Swoop, and Hound. DON'T forget it!"

Sideswipe couldn't do anything but acknowledge his brother's being correct with a simple nod.

He then muttered, just barely audible, "Sorry"

********************

"Hey, Galvatron." Sixshot wanted to talk to the boss.

Galvatron replied, but not without exasperation. "Yes Sixshot, what is it."

"My brother Shockblast. I was talking to Snow Cat when we were in the jail on Cybertron, and he told me Optimus Prime is responsible for his death. I just wanted to see if you could verify that."

Galvatron thought for a moment about the request. He very well couldn't reveal that it was in fact he that destroyed Shockblast, while in control of Unicron no less. But he couldn't blame Prime either. Because he wanted the privilage of taking him down. Then he thought of who else witnessed Shockblast's death. Then he remembered that Prime had been Powerlinked with Omega Supreme at the time of his death.

"Omega Supreme did it. Not Prime. Now, if you're done, go. I need to talk to Scrapper regarding the new base."

"Thank you Galvatron." Sixshot now knew who had killed his brother. It wasn't the Autobots at all. It was Galvatron. He figured it out because if he had known that it was in fact Omega Supreme, he would have spit it out immediately. He wouldn't have thought of an answer that would hurt him. But now he had a bone to pick with Snow Cat.

********************

"Yodel-eh-he-hoo." Snow Cat was having fun skiing down the mountain. Then he saw something yellow. Just as he realized who it was, he tried to stop, but wound up falling on his posterior. "Ouch. Hey Sixshot, what's up?"

Sixshot just looked at the sky, then looked at Snow Cat, then back up at the sky. Then he said something. "Hey, Snow Cat. Do you ever wonder what happens to a Cybertronian's spark when they lie. From what I understand about human culture, each religion as the humans call it, have a theory that with each lie a person tells, they more hurt their, what the humans call a soul, becomes. So, what do you think happens to a Cybertronian. We don't have souls like humans. All we have are our sparks."

Snow Cat wasn't quite sure how to answer that. Personally, it confused him, and he wasn't sure that he quite understood the full extent of the question. "Um. I'm not sure Sixshot. What do you think happens?"

Sixshot raised his plasma cannon to Snow Cat's face. "I think that they get payback by the one that they lied to. You lied to me that it was Prime who killed my brother. And you knew that it was Galvatron who did it. You just didn't want to sell him out."

"Buh-buh-buh--" was all Snow Cat could get out before Sixshot interrupted.

"Quiet fool. I'm going to enj-What. What are you pointing at?" Sixshot turned around to find Bruticus standnig over him, with his weapons pointed directly at him.

"Galvatron doesn't want you harming his soldiers. So he sent me to take care of you."

If Sixshot had had two eyes, he probably would have flinched.

All that was next was a tremendous boom of cannons going off.

********************

"We're coming into Ocean City. Wheeljack, I don't have the access codes, can you transmit them from the computer in front of you?" asked Skyfire.

"Sure. Wheeljack to Ocean City. Anybody there."

After a few seconds of static, Jetfire's voice came through. "Hey Wheeljack. I lower the shields and meet you at the landing platform."

"Gotcha Jetfire." Before he could sit down, he noticed that Skyfire had stopped moving. "Is something wrong Skyfire?"

"Jetfire. Wheeljack, can you download information on him into my databanks. I wonder if it's who I think it is. And if it is, I bet he'll be happy to see me."

Wheeljack, not completely sure of what Skyfire meant, just said "Sure. Here you go." Then he looked out the window, and saw the city skyline.

After they landed, Jetfire was there to greet them. They all go out, and then Skyfire transformed, and Jetfire just went into a state of disbelief.

"YOU!" "What are you doing here?!" yelled Jetfire.

"Jetfire, don't you recognize me. It's me, Skyfire."

"No. I don't. Skyfire abandoned me and mom when I was still very young. As far as I'm concerned, he's dead." He then stormed off in quite a huff.

Wheeljack now understood, and decided to recomend that Skyfire tell Prime about him and his relationship to Jetfire.

********************

"So you're Jetfire's father. Hmm."

Optimus was intrigued at this information. Skyfire was much bigger, and could possibly carry more Autobots into battle, as well as more humans. "Welcome aboard the crew."

"Thank you Optimus. And don't mind my asking, but how is your father. Last I saw him, he was still at the Ark."

"Well, he's now on Cybertron, and he's the head of the Council of Elders. Mom is good, and just recently, Wheeljack and a few Autobots went to Cybertron and recreated Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Grimlock, Swoop, and Hound." Optimus told him.

His only response was "Ahh. That explains what they're doing here."

********************

Jetfire was in his quarters, looking at a holo-picture of him, his mom, and his dad.

"Why did he have to leave in the first place" thought Jetfire. He then reached into a drawer next to his restoration chamber, and pulled out a computer disc. He then started hearing his father's words in his logic center.

"Son, every time my father went on an expedition, he always gave me this computer disc. It has the family history on it. Don't lose it. And when I return, you're to give them back to me. Okay."

"Okay dad." He heard himself when he was a young kid, and if he could start crying, he probably would have.

All of a sudden, there was a knock at his door. "Who is it?"

"It's me. Your father." Skyfire said.

Rather angrily, Jetifre just yelled "GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE!"
