I would knock the kid into his mom and slap her for asking!

OF COURSE NOT FOLKS!

BOTTOM LINE IS TOYS ARE FOR KIDS. If I was at the store and I saw someone take a toy from a kid, especially with his mother right there, I would grab it out of their hands and threaten to beat the #$@$ out of them (not cursing in front of the kid mind you), and make the idiot look like what he is.

Unless you're an equal kid yourself, for those who are sitting on the fence on this issue, you really ought to be thinking about your own integrity.

God society has gone down hill (at least with some people!).

Well, I would say first of all, the chances of the boy wanting what you're carring into the check stand is quite possible.. but I don't think he would rip it out of your hands or vocalize about it. I haven't EVER had that kind of problem.. if I get out of the toy aisle with a TF underarm, that item is claimed as mine.. -does the seagull thing- otherwise it's all fair game.

Usually when I go to the toy aisles, I end up spending atleast 5 minutes seeing what's available and if I'm in the mood to spend the money to buy it or wait another day. Haven't been nearly as jumpy about TFs as I used to be.

Well taking something directly from a child or anyone else is wrong, obviously, but I say once that toy's in your hands it's FINDERS KEEPERS. No one else has any right to it once you've laid a hand on it, nor do they have any right to complain about it afterwards. It's a STORE. This is how capitalism works: You go into a store and you buy things. It's not a charity. You don't just pick something up off the shelf and say "here little boy, would you like this?"

And a child asking (or begging, pleading, crying, etc) is one thing. It's to be expected; they're a child. A parent, however, should be above that. FAR above it, and any woman or man with that kind of jeuvenile mindset obviously had no business reproducing in the first place, so I can't take pity on them or their offspring. Besides which, it's humiliating and should be socially unacceptable.

That's my Darwinist approach to the matter, anyway.

Was this thread started because of what I said in another thread in the Toy forum about my little Arcee incident?  Cause if it is, I'm not happy about that. :tfmad

No, of course not....... He's catching on to me! $h!t !! *runs for the hills*

This happened to me awhile ago, and I was just wondering what everyone else would have done?

There is no wrong answer.

It would mainly depend on if I thought he would appreciate the figure. If it was one that I know a little kid won't have fun playing with (like Alternators, 20th Prime, Unicron or G1 reissues) I would explain that to the parent and recommend a figure the store does have with more play value for the kid.

There is no shame in keeping a figure you want unless you are just going to turn around and sell it on eBay for a big profit. If you collect Transformers and take pleasure in your collection then you really have as much of a right to tha figure as the kid does. Heck, you will probably be enjoying the figure for many years, while the kid would abandon it the moment he found something new. That's why many of us Collectors collect: when we were kids we were foolish and abandoned our toys and now that we aren't foolish kids, we can appreciate both the older toys of our youth and the toys of today.

But this thread is pretty unrealistic. If you were in line and the kid saw the toy and asked his mother for it, they would go to the toy aisle to look for it. She doesn't know you have the only one, so she wouldn't ask you to give it up unless she had already been to the toy aisle looking for that specific figure before she even bumped into you.

That's my two cents.

My outburst was the scenario where someone grabs it from the kid.

Sorry, reading the original post again, yeah, you have the right to it IF you already have it in your hands. But some situations...

I think most of us grew up with TFs with pleasurable memories, not ones where some 'old scary guy', speaking from a child's viewpoint, grabbed a toy from our hands. I don't think there was such an adult fan base with toys then (maybe wrong on that; I was one of those kids in the aisle with their mom so don't remember).

BUT, I never begged some stranger to get a toy if I saw it in there hands when I was a little shaver. Wouldn't even enter my logic circuits. Anyways, my dad would probably given me a boot to the @$$. But times sure are a changin. Why, I remember back when before there was P/C...

$%&(*, starting to sound too much like Kup.

j/k. Thanks for NOT starting this thread because of the other one.

I'd let the kid have it. plain and simple. Bratty spoiled nice whatever. I'd do it.

No problem! I'll be there to start a thread NOT about your thread anytime! :thumb
