Who said he won't be a Decepticon? These remolds can be tricky like that...

the alt line started out being a great line, but there is more and more stuff showing up that i do not like. First Battle Ravage and now Whell-Jack and Shockwave. Both WJ and SW look like kitbashed. If the final version looks better I will be happy, but SW as the RX-8 is not what I had in mind.

It does look nice ... if I can get past turning Wheeljack into a track Mustang. That's just really weird. I know it's a classic Mustang color scheme and all, but I associate white and green with Wheeljack.

 

There's a chance it's a Decepticon since they're really outnumbered and the color scheme on the bot mode is kinda dark. The black upper arms, upper legs, and stomach make him look darker where a silver/gray plastic (or blue on the upper arms) would've made him look more gentle like an Autobot. Also, all of the Decepticons so far have been vehicles in some sort of tuned stage beyond stock ... and Shockwave will continue that trend being a Mazdaspeed RX-8.

For once. I agree with Body count....

 

I hate repaints but this is even worse. I never owed Wheeljack and was hoping to get him if he came out in BT. But this is just Grimlock V2. Except for the Head which is dead on, the rest looks nothing like wheeljack.

 

I really hope this is some sort of mistake. It's such a shame to disgrace Wheeljack with a grimlock handmedown.

I dunno guys. It looks like they're really pushing hard here if this is indeed the real thing. His head hardly resembles G1 Wheel-Jack. I mean the eyes aren't right and the side lights aren't big enough or shaped correctly. If you're gonna make an Alt/BT based on a G1 figure, then at least make his head look right! :P

Not even taking the car mode into consideration, this body model does not fit Wheeljack AT ALL! Same as the RX-8 doesn't fit Shockwave. HasTak is pissing me off now.

 

The Alt/BT line is such a great opportunity to rethink so many cool TF's, but some of these repaints have just been a sacrilege. To think that the Alt line got me back into TFs after so many years, and now it is already hitting repaint hell. I think I'm starting to remember why I stopped collecting in the first place...

I disagree fully. I think the RX-8 fits Shockwave like a glove.

 

And c'mon, you knew the line would be half repaints the second they showed Silverstreak, and you knew it would be WEIRD repaints the second they showed Dead End. We're 14 figures in now, so none of this should be a surprise anymore.

 

I can settle for the occasional (or even frequent) G1 mis-match when the toy quality is this good.
