I was hoping it would be Soundwave too. :tfsad Also too bad the stripes aren't red and green. It is a proto but after B. Ravage I'm not getting my hopes up.

If the final version looks better I will be happy, but SW as the RX-8 is not what I had in mind.

I thought that at first too. In fact, I was thinking Soundwave as the RX-8 as he's a good compliment to Jazz, and Shockwave as the 'stang or something bigger since he's a big burly dude, but theres a lot of reasons why SW and the RX-8 are a good match.

 

Think about it. Shockwave is a bit of an oddball when it comes to TFs. He has one eye, no face to speak of, and a big honkin' cannon for an arm. Appearance-wise, he's a bit wierd.

 

The RX-8 is an oddball when it comes to cars. Its a coupe, but technically its got 4 doors. It uses a rotary engine and what other street car has that? And appearance-wise, nothing looks like the RX-8. Personally, I love its looks and many others do too, but some hate it. There's little middle ground here.

 

So I think when it comes to bending a few rules, both SW and the RX-8 are pretty evenly matched.

I personally like it. Wheeljack is my favourite Autobot, and although in a perfect world seeing him get his own mold would be great, I'm prefectly happy with it being a retool of Grimlock.

 

But I can understand the complaints. But let me put it like this. By far and large, you're all in North America, with ample access to stores that stock these fine toys, or webstores that won't cost you an arm and a leg to order from (In customs charges - I just got slapped with a £50 customs fee this morning). Would you rather have the choice, the oppurtuntity to buy toys like Alternator Ravage, Shockwave and Wheeljack... Or would you prefer not to have the choice at all?

 

Call me silly, but I like having the choice. Don't like it, don't buy it, but there'll be silly buggers like me who'll buy anything with an Alternator/Binaltech sticker slapped on.

I almost think it's no use in complaining about these new figures. For the most part they are characters we all like and then at with only 2 releases at a time every 2 months at $20 a piece what's to complain about. plus protos always look like crap. It's crazy to form an opinion on the nonfinal pics.

After a day or so, this one is growing on me, but the blue has got to go. Definitely will still be repainted, if and when I ever get one.

i've done a little thinking abou this and i feel as if the shockwave and wheeljack cars seem to fit very well with each other. i would definately buy all of them just for the sheer idea of how far the toys have come and how detailed the alternators are in comparison to the other lines. that alone still impresses me. so im diggin them i cant complain. :thumb
