I once heard that the Seekers where $12 or $15

I think I saw an original catalog at OTFCC listing Optimus at $24.99.

But, you have to account for inflation

Adjusted for inflation using the Consumer Price Index: $24.99 in 1984 would be $44.24 in 2003 dollars.

I was interested in knowing this too. My mom took me to get what ever toy I wanted I pointed at Optimus and she said it was too much. I had little concept of price back then so I didn't even think to look at how much they we're.

omega was $59.99 according to my original box, jetfire was $49.99, optimus was $29.99, the car wer all 15-19 and the minis were 3-5, this is from Canada as well so US may be a bit less

jesus! And I thought transformers wre expensive now! $10 in 1984 would probably buy $25 worth of product now-a-days. My god, hasbro sucked money from consumers back then too.

Hasbro didn't do it any worse than any other toy maker, and they offer some outright BARGAINS compared to many toymakers today. Consider this: A deluxe-ish Transformer from 84 (an Autobot car) costed roughly $10. In 2004, a deluxe which is bigger (though without die cast metal) costs $10. The markets have changed in 20 years. $10 might equate to $25 now, but everything ELSE costs more than it did then.

But, Hasbro does offer some nice prices on GI Joe. In the 80s, the average price of a figure was $3, and you could get 3 figures for $10. Today, a GI Joe two pack has MSRP of $6.99 (about $3.50 a figure), and the comic packs (which feature 3 figures and acc. plus a glossy stock comic) are only $9.99

I was thinking that the Autobot cars where like 7.99, and the mini's where 2.99 at walmart back then, but I can't swear by it.
