I mainly remember lurking in shops, gawking at the all the TF's i'd never own.

Hmm, I would have to say it was when I got G1 Optimus Prime on my 8th birthday, I had wanted him since I was5 but my parents could never afford him. So I saved up all the money I could, I did odd jobs for people and eventually I managed to afford him. So I went in with my mum into the one toy shop in the town, which has been turned into an Italian resturant now, and my mum asked me what TF I wanted. I looked at what there was left and on the highest shelf was Prime, so I pointed to him, my money with my mum, and she asked about him. I went home happy that day, first time in a long time, with Optimus Prime in a bag and I spent the rest of the day playing. Other memory is when I was given G2 Rapido as a birthday present when I was a teen, he may be a basic toy but he's a fun one.

The happiest memory that stands out in my mind right now is how I came about purchasing my original Powermaster Prime.

While shopping with my mom one day, we walked by the toy aisles and I saw PM Prime sitting there in all his glory. I was about ten or eleven, I think. I SOOOOO wanted this toy! I cehcked the price tag....THIRTY BUCKS (alot for a kid with zero income). I asked my mom if she would buy it for me, and, of course, she said it was too expensive. Now, with Christmas and my birthday months away, the option of getting it as a gift was not there, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. Every afternoon and evening for about three weeks after that, I went hunting for aluminum cans, hoping that if I found enough, I could get thrity bucks for recycling them. In the evenings, my dad would help me, driving with me out of town, and walking along the side of the road with me, picking up every beer and soda can I laid my eyes on.

Well, at the end of the three weeks, my parents and I loaded up the back of the pickup (literally loaded...packed) with garbage bags full of cans we had found and crushed. I was so excited, I was vibrating, knowing that I surely had thirty bucks worth of aluminum in the back of the truck. We dumped the cans off at the recycling center....my dad took care of the money as I waited in the truck. For the cans I had spent hours on upon hours searching for I made twenty eight dollars. My heart sank, knowing that I had spent so much time only to fall two dollars short of my goal. We went to the store that had the PM Prime, and I went to at least go look at it sitting on the shelf. My dad looked at it, and said to me:

"Well, I think I can spot you two dollars."

I damn near did a backflip after that. We drove home that day with my Powermaster Optimus Prime...the transformer that I worked the hardest to get. He stands in my collection to this day. If the time ever comes for me to get rid of my collection, my Powermaster Optimus Prime will not go with it. While not the favorite figure in my collection, it is a very prized possession to me for sentimental reasons.

Now that is a great story. :thumb

I have two.

The first is getting Optimus Prime for my birthday in 1984. I knew in advance that my grandma had brought him and I managed to sneak a peek or two at him. As soon as she rang the doorbell on my birthday, I was there to grab Prime, tear off the wrapping paper, and let him out!

The second is getting Jetfire for my birthday in 1985, which is both my best and worst TF related memory. Best because I actually got him after much begging and pleading and he was the coolest toy I'd ever seen, and worst because my birthday was on a schoolday that year and I wasn't allowed to actually take him out of the box till after school. Oh, how the hours dragged by that day.

I know I got a crapload of toys that morning...I draw a blank when I try to remember what else I got.

For me, the happiest moment (s) ever were spotting the spy shots of Alternators Hound and Swindle online. Since day one, Id been dissappointed by every TF with a Jeep alt mode ever created. It seemed that even though we'd been getting a fairly steady string of them they all had major issues. Hound is too small, and misshapen. Swindle turned out to be an army prototype on his toy. Brawn isnt really modeled after anything. G1 Rollbar just looks goofy. I'd tried unsuccessfully kitbashing my own Jeep TFs and the results were much less than satisfying.

Then, last January is when I saw the 3rd alternator, Hound. The alt mode is an excellent replica of the TJ Wrangler, and finally the robot mode looked like it should have to begin with.

Once I saw Swindle, who was the repaint and retool I had been planning for an alt hound, I couldnt have been happier. Not only was he the same color as my own Jeep, he also had the bigger tires that make scale wise just about duplicate the 33 inchers on mine. And his head mold has a visor, and Ive had a soft spot for visored TFs since the beginning. Guess it has to do with the fact that I love shades myself.

Anyway, finally seeing Has/Tak build a TF that was pretty damn close to what I'd been dreaming of for 20 years was a cool moment for me.

When I was a kid my parents never got me any TF's only Gobots. :wtf So my best memories were hanging out with my best friend who's parents got him EVERYTHING!

Every day we'd go to his house after school, watch the Transformers then go to his room and divide his collection up to 2 equal sides and we'd have our little wars. Today I see my nephews do the same thing but all they do is transform them back and forth and shoot at each other or punch them together in a senseless fashion.

Back in the day my friend and me didn't just fight with them we created our own plots, had dialogue, set up bases and stuff like that. It wasn't enough to just fight with them it was like we created our own play episodes of the cartoon it was great. Sometimes we'd go on for hours with different plots and twists and then end it with one big epic battle before it was time for me to go home.

aaahhhh those were the days!
