Toys that should not have been repainted ever.

Recommended Posts

I also noticed that when the third season of the G1 tv series came out, they repainted the Dinobots to look more like how they did in the cartoon and comics, which I thought was a good move.  I'm pretty sure that when the original D-bots came out, with the blue and all, kids might have been more than a little confused, and saying things like "this isn't Grimlock" or something like that.  I know my sister did.

Not sure what G1 you're referring to, dude. :tflaugh The Dinobots were some of the more show-accurate G1 figures (the only real exception being Swoop who was red on his chest rather than blue). They repainted three of the Dinobots in Generation 2 -- Grimlock turned blue, Slag turned green, and Snarl turned red. But they were all gray and red and gold in the TV show, and in G1.

No. If you go to unicron.com, and go to the section titled "1985 Transformers", you'll see a pic from the Autobot product booklet, and it has all five Dinobots, and they're blue, and then if you go to either the "1986 Transformers" or "1987 Transformers", you'll see another pic, but of the booklet for that year, and the Dinobots are repainted red.

this would be due to the fact they used Diaclones for the packages and catalogs

yeah, pretty much any Armada/Energon toy with the exception of E Megs, 'cuz we all know that E Galvy kicks ass. ;)

I don't give a crap about some web site. The G1 Dinobots were gray, red, and gold. Period. I saw these things on the shelves. If you want a catalog scan, here's one:

Yeah, sorry dude. I have no idea how old you are, but I OWNED those figures as a kid, and none of them were blue. Silver, gold, red, pewter-ish bodies, and the smoke-color translucent parts made up those bad boys. Man, they were some of THE coolest-looking figs from G1. :tfevil

Oh yes. I forgot the smoke-colored translucent parts. :thumb Why I ever got rid of my G1 Grimlock I'll never know... :grr

Just picked one up sans accessories the other day off Ebay for 35 bucks. The labels are in poor shape, but a quick Reprolables purchase solves that. Then again, his chrome's not so hot... maybe time to buy another and frankenstein the two to get a fairly nice single one out of them.

Any repaints of the sort are awful. Ive never seen one that I particularly liked because i knew it was the only way for hasbro to make a few bucks on partially forgotten characters that sold quite a few

Stop the bashing of armada, not all the repaints are bad!

Examples;

Galvatron (Hell yeah!)

Thundercracker (You wouldn't want to go without.)

Nemesis Prime. (Just because.)

Universe Sixtrain. What was hasbro thinking? Most of those trains look like they came from the 1850s and from the 1920s.
