WEll that still alittle to big.

I don't know what the size was supposed to be planned, so that was just a guess.

Oh okay then.

The plan is for each component bot to be Alternators-sized (1:24), with each one being a construction-vehicle shell built onto an Alt frame.

so the might be doubled there orginal size.

UPDATE: 12/01/05

I apologize for the EXTREME delay in posting this, but if you're going to do something of this size, it's worth doing RIGHT.

I was poring over the plans for MP megatron the other day, and I remembered the suggestion someone had about using bionicle for the joints.  So I took a look at the Mp megatron that someone had built using a bionicle figure. And that's when it struck me....

it was way too easy...

The main problem I had run across in this project was that I was trying to use alternators, when all i needed was Alternator SIZED robots. Alts are going to be WAY too heavy for most joints to take, anyways. the idea is simple: use the boinicle figures as frames to build each constructicon, omitting the hands and heads. Build the SHELL of each vehicle AROUND that frame, making mods where necessary to accommodate the transforms for each. With their particular setups, they are PERFECT for attaching ABS/styrene to, and they weigh far less than the alts (plus cost less too.)

the ball joints also offer far more poseability for each constructicon, as well as devastator as a whole. To this end, I scrapped the previous plans, and am drawing up a new set. I should have them done soon (the first page is nearly finished), and i'll send them out to be scanned.

Now, i made a revision with Hook that I will detail in the plans as soon as i post them, but for now here's the scoop; I changed the way hook fits into devastator. Simply put, hook used to bend in half along his left side, in order to transform into devvy's chest. What I did was to take his legs, and bend each one up along either side of his torso, locking to his arms. This way, devastator's head can simply fit inside hook's back, and the chest piece can lay along hook's back. This greatly simplifies the transform, and allows for the standardization of the joint hookup to devvy. The limbs should now be interchangeable between arms as well as legs, as all will connect with a ball-joint. the greatly reduced weight also means that the ball joints won't weaken, like they would with alts.

I can't remember who suggested bionicle, but I would like to thank them all the same. Stay tuned for more updates within the next week, and thank you all for being so patient with me. I promise, your loyalty won't be in vain! :thumb

Cool. i'll keep everyone posted.

meantime, any more suggestions or comments, keep'em coming. that's the ONE thing that saved this project from becoming a dismal failure! :thumb

Hey WV why not swing by Walicron or Circuit City and pick up an all in one Printer scanner coppier? That`s what I use. Also didn`t I recently hear that you picked up a new digicam? Can`t wait to see better pics of your master pieces.
