Soundtrack to the TF live action movie

Recommended Posts

I still think it should be a rock influenced symphonic soundtrack.

However, odds are strong, (and I wouldn't be dissapointed at all), that what we'll actually see will be something along the lines of the two Spiderman flicks, Daredevil, and The Punisher. That would be a mainly hard rock soundtrack, with some softer and heavier stuff mixed in, spearheaded by a handful of "ticket selling" bands, such as Dashboard Confessional, Evanescence, and Chevelle (Examples from above movie soundtracks) and filling out the soundtrack with "breakthrough artists" who are just coming out, like Edgewater or Boy Hits Car.

Personally, I'd love to hear a new song or two from Thornley, Finger Eleven, or Our Lady Peace on this soundtrack, but I won't hold my breath. (I love Canadian rock for some reason... even Avril Lavigne isn't bad, IMO, but not for Transformers. She can stick with Spongebob.)

I do fear that the soundtrack will be flooded with "emo" type bands, based on the cult "uber-cool" status being loaded on to all things 80's by stores like Hot Topic. 12-16 year olds are flocking to the 80's retro stuff, especially Transformers and 8 bit Nintendo, like moths to a bug zapper, and most of them have no point of reference whatsoever. It's just cool to them because that's what they're told is cool... These kids are also the target audience for the current emo and "screamo" music trends, so I'm sure that style of music will play some part in the film... I just hope it's in moderation, and blended with other styles as well.

We'll see, I guess.

Black Sabbath is the band who performs Iron Man. The origin of Ozzy.

"Screamo" :tflaugh1 :rofl :tflaugh now that's a good one. :thumb

This is why I feel the soundtrack should stick to instrumental music. It could even be done by several different current artists and then blended together as a score.

I also agree with the selling of the 80's. I see kids who are walking around wearing all this 80's shiznit and I bet none of them could tell me who originally performed "Blue Monday". They'd just go "yeah man, Orgy's cool." No. It was New Order, you dumbasses. Pathetic.

And what's up with 311 covering the Cure? I mean it's not horrible, but where the hell did that come from? Trying to cash in on the 80's resurgence, methinks.

I'd have to say Linkin Park, if anybody who watches animes have noticed, most anime music videos use Linkin Park songs. A Transformers Remix of Eminems "Soldier" would be nice for the Decepticons. Remix of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Going To Take It"? Evanescence? "The Boys of Summer" by The Ataris changes to "The Bots of Summer" :tflaugh Trust Company? Stabbing Westward? Well those are my pics...

I'd have to agree with Linkin Park and Evanscence. A lot of people bash those two but they really are good bands. I can definitely see the Autobots and Decepticons battling it out to "Points of Authority". Haven't really heard Twisted Sister or Stabbing Westward...
