A little something I noticed about Master Megatron

Recommended Posts

So what if it is an homage? With or without, just ask yourself if you like the design or not. If you want to see the homage, great - it's there (kinda.) If not, look at it for what it is and enjoy it that way. Everybody's happy! Can't we all just get along?? ;)

I love the goatee, myself.

you know, i have a decent critera for homages that would keep them from becoming overused.

HasTak should only do a homage if:

1: the new toy is molded to look like the original character

2: HasTak gives the toy the same name as the original character

3: the paint job is at least somewhat similiar to the original character

if HasTak followed that critera, they'd only do a homage when they could meet all three conditions and the homages would seem at that more special.

Personally, I think I'll let them get away with this, just for once, and the reason why is pretty simple. Would you have thought of giving him not G1 Megatron's cartoon head, but the TOY head? And to make it all better, they actually made it look good and intimidating (alright, maybe not really intimidating :redface ). And to be honest, I like obscure homages like that. Not things like "Look! See who he represents/is a redesign of it?". :thumb

It's more like a hidden message than a homage. Makes me wonder about any other hidden stuff... May be if you'd count the total of 90 degree angles on Unicron it would sum up to 666 or something. Find the hidden mode on Gigantron to unlock te end of the world... His recolor was DEVIL Gigatron y'know...

Creeeeeeeeeeeppppppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...

homages are fine with me, Energon/superlink is probably so popular because of them. THis megs has only a passing homage, one so obscure that it almost slipped under the radar. That's fine cause he's one kick ass toy

I've never understood this... for some reason it's OK for Prime to always look like Prime, no matter what line it is, and people don't complain. It's OK for Starscream to look like Starscream, no matter what line it is. but when they try to Make Megatron/Galvatron look like his predecessors people b1tch and moan about homages and so on. What's the deal with this?

All TFs should have this criteria only:

Identical facial features

Any distinguishing items that only they should sport.

Either a similar alt mode, or an evolution of that alt mode.

Either a smiliar paint job, or an evolution of that paint job.

Basically anything to not make us wonder "WHO THE HELL IS THAT?" when we initially see them. Personally, this new toy line is very good in doing this in my view. Recognisable characters are always good. Make them grow if you'd like, but thats good too.

I can sincerely say I don't like some of the designs. But hey, you don't have to buy them ALL.
