Why do display all your tfs in robot mode only?

Recommended Posts

the only exceptions that i can think of would be the Dinobots..... cause thier bot modes are lame compared to thier alt modes

i agree with you all .. It's all about shelf space.... plus in my opinion, the robots look cooler...

I've been looking at your collections and it seems most of you display your collections as robot-mode only.  I was just wondering why that is.  I pick which mode I think looks best and I go with that.  I mean, they are transformers.  Having robots that never transform would be like... Armada or something.

space is a large deciding factor... shelf space is hard to come by when you have a large collection. so the more vertical the better

Can't possibly say it better myself. There are a few that look better in alt mode, but they're just plain harder to fit on shelves that way.

I think all the G1 'bots & 'cons look better in vehicle/alt mode.

As mentioned, it really depends on the set up. I do notice that I preffer Robot mode over the alt mode.. I think it's because they're USUALLY packaged in alt mode. The Robot mode is like the prize in the cereal box..

If I get bored enough though, I will pick one up and try to transform it. I know my TM2 megs was a dragon for the longest time until I recently changed him.

Like the other guy said, having them in their car mode only is like collecting Micro Machines or something, but hey to each his own. But anyway, it's more of shelf space issue for me as well. The only bad side of displaying TFs in robot mode is the dreaded domino effect when the shelves get all crowded and you accidentally knock one off.

Altmodes tend to be more stable, so I prefer them. It's particularly important 1) in California, and 2) when a lot of my spare shelf space is atop actively used furniture like dressers and cabinets.

i agree i have my G1's in alt mode

I'm a G1 collector basically, with the exception of Armada Unicron, Energon Arcee, 20th Prime, and the Alternators. All are in bot mode except for the Dinobots (Swoop hangs from the cieling on white thread, "flying" above the other four) and Ironhide, because Ironhide's bot mode is teh lame. I have a HOC Ironhide standing next to him to represent what his bot mode SHOULD look like. Also, for the ones I have doubles of, Wheeljack, Warpath, Windcharger, and a few others, I display one in each mode, like in the old catalogs. With the exception of my 6 Insecticons(3 Kickback, 2 Shrapnel, and a Bombshell), who are all in bot mode, working on stacking up a pile of my own custom hand made Energon Cubes. (Megatrom oversees them, making sure none get spilled or stolen.)
