Weapon Interchangability

Recommended Posts

It would be too cool if they could sell some accessories packets with just weapons. Has/Tak, NOT a third party. Third party weapons tend to be wallet gougers. Yes they tend to make accessories better then Has/Tak, but it costs too much IMHO.

I refuse to buy any toy that's not legitimately licensed by HasTak - so this is a good option for me. :) I already have this axe anyway, so I don't need to make an additional purchase.

As for accessory packs... umm... how well do you think they'd sell? Remember that adult collectors are a minority demographic -- I'm not sure if most parents would be willing to spend money on accessory packs for Transformers.

"Mummy, I want that accessory pack with the axe for Optimus Prime!"

"But sweetie, Optimus Prime already has a gun. And guns are better than axes."

"Really? I think axes are pretty cool."

"Honey, if you were in the army and they sent you off to a war in somewhere like Afghanistan or Libya, and you were given the choice between an automatic assault rifle or a lumberjack's axe, which would you pick?"

"...my cat's breath smells like cat food."

"I'm not buying that axe for you. Now let's go get your sister some more clothes for her Barbies!"

:D

I got the axe buy purchasing that stupid 2 pack, I kept Megatron and sold off Optimus Prime without the axe to recoup some of the cost of the purchase.

The only real weapon swap I have done to date is the extra gun I had from one of the reissue Ricochet figures that came with the Target Master etc. I wanted my RTS Jazz to have a G1 gun so I chopped the handle off of a junked Drift figure and chopped the little handle off the standard Jazz Gun. Super glued the two handle onto the gun painted it over in silver and voila, my RTS Jazz has a G1 accurate gun instead of the gun he came with and if I want he can dual wield!

I've interchanged weapons between toys a few times, a few that come to mind include:

+ G1 Bludgeon: wields a Himura Kenshin "sakabatou" katana from McFarlane Toys Rurouni Kenshin

+ G1 Stranglehold: wields a spiked ball and chain weapon from MOTU Beast Man.

+ G1 Octopunch: wields a trident from MOTU Mer Man.

+ G1 Thunderwing: Has the green chrome "evil" Matrix and chain around his neck from eHobby Galvatron II.

+ Masterpiece Starscream holds the Megatron gun that came with MP Convoy.

+ BW Ultra Megatron has a small rubber duck in his right "hand".

...and probably a few more which I can't think of off hand.

Yeah yeah yeah, useless without pics...
