US Hasbro Masterpiece Rodimus/Hotrod Confirmed !!!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm sure there will be some left over RP parts if the Hot Rod release is true. Might be entertaining to see if folks not in the know make a stink online about these extra parts.

Personally, I am not sold on the car being inserted backwards into the trailer. If you look at the differnce in the flames on the hood - you can see that the van uses only the front section of the hood of the car. The windshield is the same - only at a different angle. I can see how the hood of the car raises, the windshield lifts over top of the engine and connects to the front section of the hood, and it is NOT inserted backwards. The side flames do have hinges to flip and could thus explain the backwards part there - "OR" some type of rotation to the back of the vehicle that flips right/left sides. I'm just not sold on the vehicle going backwards -as both the hood and windshield would then have to not only flip, but would be on the opposite side. I don't buy that. Just my speculation.

IMHO, I think I'll just spend my money on FansProject's Protector armor.

agreed, definitely getting protector, but i wont be able to resist if i see this guy on the shelves!

It's all speculation until we A: See the finished product for sale and reviewed. B: See the Hasbro version, and if it's Hot Rod only, and how that works (IE the possible Targetmaster and if any RP parts carry over).

I would guess that not part from RP is carried over since Hod Rod won't need anything from Rodimus Prime set, not even the gun. I also wonder if the Hasbro version will have the transformation parts and ability to change to Rodimus Prime, it would not make sense. For example, the Hot Rod version will only have one face and no extension part for the upper thigh. The lower leg extension may be needed for transformation between car and robot modes.

I think there will be a different face like one with a visor over his optical sensors....

The lack of extensions in the leg really makes me think that by the time they make the changes for Hasbro and Takara the figures would be considered different and from seperate assembley lines.

That is definently not the same hood, as there are no corresponding groves and slits that would be there if it was, also the windsheild is different, all parts look the same but have different dimensions. This is where my hang up is. They could of easily used the front of the hot rod car, but becuase they wanted the exact proportions of the original G1 rodimus campavan, they scrapped the idea of hot rod actualy docking and hauling the trailer, as it would not of been so short and broad, I myself am not fussed if it didn't look identiacal, I would of been more happier that it was a functional trailer that docked with the car, and it's logical too.

Are you sure the dimensions are different, and it's not just a different ANGLE? It looks to me like the front section of the hood.. is more inclined.. and the windshield comes over to meet it - thus overlapping over the engine - and thus it completely changes the angle and thus depth of the front end. I'm not so sure it's different dimensions yet.

No way, you can look at the pictures and see the differences in molding and hinges that carry over really clearly.

^you can also look at the headlights: those on the HR car mode are thinner than those on the RP car mode. While the robot has the smaller headlight of the HR car. The front of the RP altmode is completely different from the robot chest.

I also really hate this and I feel it diminishes this MP seriously since it's neither a real MP HR nor a MP RP.
