Mom and Dad Return for Tranformers 3 - Will You?

Recommended Posts

looks like i'm the only one who actually enjoys being entertained.

...or you just have incredibly low standards.

What a rude comment.

Don't be dickish.

It is not a rude comment, it is a fair criticism - as the critical response to Revenge of the Fallen demonstrated, enjoyment of this film was largely dependent on the viewer maintaining extremely low expectations. (The same could be said of the first Transformers, albeit in a more restrained fashion.)

I also find it fascinating that apparently you consider my rejoinder rude; despite the fact that it was in response to a comment that implicitly accused those with a critical disappreciation of the film franchise as fundamentally lacking the ability to be entertained. You didn't have anything to say about that, did you? How very telling.

So much for Transformers 3 being all about the robots as it looks like the same old procession is lining up for the next ride on the merry-go-round of Michael Bay's robot trilogy. Variety is reporting that Sam's parents played by Kevin Dunn and Julie White will be reprising their roles as the Witwicky's. Will Mrs. Witwicky get baked again? will Mr. Witwicky be able to run this time? One can only wait and see. Read the Full News Story Here

You'd think that after Julie's razzie nod, something would click inside Paramount and tell them that she is not a good actresss. With the addition of no talent, potty-mouthed wuss Leo Spitz and the not convincing pretender Alice, you wonder why they felt the majority of the movie should be a series of terrible jokes.

At first you needed human interactions, after all Generation One started out with Spike and Sparkplug Witwicky. The problem runs into how well (or how stupid) do these characters act when it comes to being around the Transformers. Take the humans William Lennox and Captain Epps. Here you have two characters that are military who are part of a team that help fight along side the Autobots. While sometimes they say a funny (not toilet or sexual) joke, they became characters that fit in well. With Sam Witwicky, you have a character that is growing as he comes to terms with how he became part of the war.

Then you have the goofy characters; Ron, Judy, and Leo. These characters were almost out of place in every scene. Tossed in to add in "humor", their nasty jokes, not so funny antics, and over the top screaming made me cringe every time they came onto the screen. The producers already had their comedic relief in the forms of Miles and Simmons, why do they insist on putting in lots of characters that are not funny?

Will I see this movie? Yes, I will see it. Will I see it repeatedly like I did for the first Transformers? That I don't know yet, but if the majority of the movie involves Ron, Judy, and Leo, probably not.

NOTE: Sorry for being overly blunt and negative I'll revise my post.

I didn't like the parents in the last 2 films. They made the film CRAWL. I am displeased to see them return.

If I see anymore rude comments from ANYONE about ANYTHING in this thread I am going to start handing out warnings and I will shut this thread down faster than you can blink. There's no need for it. That also goes for people whining about movie news. Don't want to see movie news? Don't open the thread. It's really that simple.

Amen Blitz. I'm going to stop reading movie news if it's going to be another year and a half of this.

I still haven't bought the DVD of ROTF...and sadly, I will be going into TF3 with extremely low expectations.

I happened to enjoy the first two movies but for those who didn't no expectations is probably the best way to go see TF3. That way you can only be pleasantly surprised.

I'm still debating an answer to the question: "Mom and Dad Return for Tranformers 3 - Will You?" :schin It's gonna have to be a LOT better than Revenge of the Ballin'!

I didn't buy a DVD or Blu-ray of ROTF...perhaps if I find it in the dollar bin one day, but until then...

Ditto. I do enjoy Sam's parents though.

As far as TF3, I will see it and go in there with no/low expectations. I think being fans of the series/toyline we set up ourselves for disappointment. Same thing happened to Star Wars fanatics/fanboys when The Phantom Menace was released...

IDK about setup. ROTF and Phantom Menace are truly bad movies. I am sorry, but it should be implicit that fans should be catered too. Look back at those movies now. No doubt they were made for ticket sales. The shame is they could do both. It is the BS these Hollywood big shots throw down on whim just to have their way that ruins these films. THAT is what I am really tired of, fan or not.

Phantom Menace was a MUCH better movie than RoTF. The only thing I hated about Phantom Menace was JarJar.

Because EVERY Michael Bay movie is written like that. Again, I do enjoy the parents though.

:agree Michael Bay is the KING of senseless artistic licensing.
