Transformers 3 to Be Post Converted Into 3-D?

Recommended Posts

Earlier last month, we reported that Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg were having a battle over whether or not Transformers 3 would be shot in 3-D, and Mr. Bay seemed to be losing at that time. Well, according to Variety, it seems like Mr. Bay is getting closer to losing this battle; however, it seems like time is not on Mr. Spielberg's side with the July 1, 2011 release date set for the film.

I hope they at least give people the option to see it in either format. Like having the 3D for Imax and the regular version without 3D. I don't feel like wearing those stupid glasses everytime I go see Transformers 3. I know I'm going to see it at least 5 times. Avatar was OK, but I would have liked to see it without 3D. Even with those glasses, parts of the movie still looked blury.

It almost sounds good. But is 3D really necessary? I mean enough things fly around as it is, I want to see just about everything as possible. I dunno.

There were theaters showing regular 2D versions of Avatar as well, and I'm sure there will be some with Transformers 3. 3D movies give some people headaches, so it would be silly to force everyone to see it only that way.

i would really prefer they figure out how to make a decent movie, and then worry about whether or not it will be in 3d.

I agree with all this.

While I love the detail to the average movie figure, on screen it tends to get to busy. I'd hate to see any slacking in the detail department, but if so much of it gets lost in regular format, 3-D may be a bit much.

If they can slow down the speed, but keep the detail, I'd be all for this.

Before this thread becomes a script tyraid, I would like to mention, there's many facets to films like this. This particular thread is about the potential for format. Lets keep it about that in hopes that maybe our oppinions about the pros and cons may be heard.

It's a long shot, but nothing beats a failure except a try.

Personaly, I think this fad needs to vanish into the history of useless shit vault as it once did. It does not add more enjoyment to a movie, its a gimic and having it as a main feature of a movie means that other things that make the movie good will be sacrificed (only one I saw was one of the first ones and as I wasent paying I went along. 'my bloody valantine', while having impressive effects, was a trash movie and made my eyes hurt after the first 30 mins.)

You know, i really don't care. After the dissapointment fro RotF, there is a good chance I will just wait for 3 to be on Blu-ray. And than i may just reant it. Heck I still cant bring myself to by RotF. I wanted to but i just can't force myself to get something that dissapointed me that much.

So as far as 3d goes... let them do what they want.

I actually really enjoyed the 3D effects as seen in Avatar. I think the IMAX version was FAR FAR better than the regular 3D. The ONLY Problem I really have is the huge cost increase of the movie tickets. it's about 80% increase in ticket price. Is THAT worth it?? To most movies - NO. But there are certain movies, like Avatar, that are just better seen on the big screen, and the IMAX made it even better. I personally thoroughly enjoyed it.

As far as Transformers goes, it could make a GOOD movie AWESOME. I would enjoy it. The problem is -- if they make a BAD to AVERAGE movie with it, it will make me even MORE disappointed, because I spent even more money - and it will leave me feeling like I didn't get my money's worth. If i'm going to watch a bad-average movie - i'd rather do it WITHOUT the 3D. At least it will then be respectable. If they can put a GREAT movie together, hell ya, i'd pay more to see it made even better for 3D or IMAX.
