Collection space! (is there any left?) :P

I use to save every box. Now most get tossed. I don't resell figures on average. and 90% of the Hasbro ones aren't repackable.

If I can repack the figure, the box is vintage, or it's a high end item like an MP box(which is repackable) I'll save it.

Otherwise, if I want the figure AND the box, I'll just get a second one for the MIB collection.

I tried to save everything but the cards and bubbles get impossible.

I still keep boxes but only if I found the figure in a nearly pristine box, otherwise I decide on a case by case basis if it's worth keeping it or not.

I do however run into problems with too much MISB stuff. I end up with too many extras or figures I simply need to get rid of and I periodically sell some stuff off. It helps clear room, raise some needed funds, and helps keep things manageable.

Sometimes we all pre-order and purchase expensive figs that in time become more useful to sell than they are to keep. I think most collectors (of modest means) will hit that at some point.

While I never like selling anything, sometimes it just doesn't make any sense to keep things around that I really don't have much of an opportunity to appreciate. Even if it's a rare and expensive figure. It may hurt, but it's all about serving the needs of right now. Sadly, I don't always have the means of keeping up with new while holding on to the old so sacrifices must be made.

Collecting is fun, but sometimes frustrating and at times quite sad. But hey, I'm still doin' it!

I only keep boxes if they are from the G1 series or from Japan. otherwise they just take up space, and sooner or later you will have to get rid of them. I don't see the Universe boxes being worth anything later on. Plus I prefer to pull all of mine out of the box for display purposes, and to save space.

I only save some back bourds for pasting all over my kitchen,.and I only keep a few boxs depends on wether you can open them without destroying them,.kept like jetfires,, retro soundwave ,mightymug soundwave,um not to many really.

I was keeping the boxes for the Alternators but when they switched to the bubbles it just became pointless. I like having my figures standing on their shelves looking cool. If you have a 2' by 1' floor space along a wall go get a 5 shelf bookcase at home depot, or walmart. No they probably won't hold all of your figures but if they aren't in boxes, and easily stacked, and held in their arms they won't be as easily stolen. You also might want to have a deadbolt lock installed.

2 MANDITORY things for any apartment, even without an expensive kick ass collection in it.

1-Heavy Locks

2-Renters Insurance

-I went to Progressive and have a $100,000 policy on my apartment. For only $46 a month I'm more then covered incase of anything. I just tack it on with my car insurance payment and don't even notice it.
