So... For some reason completely unknown to me at this moment, I own the R.I.D. Mega-octane, and none of the other components of Ruination (Bruticus).

 

Now, this has always bugged me. I mean... To have 1 component of a combiner, and not the rest, just... grates on my nerves, as if there is potential there that is not being tapped.

 

Yet when I go on ebay, invariably the best deals already include Mega-octane.. and Furthermore, more options are opened to me.

 

So here, I come to you gurus:

 

1) Is Bruticus/Ruination actually worth it? I mean, his poseability is weak, I can't really speak to the quality of his 4 limbs, and generally I think most of the yellow/gold color schemes I see him in are just horrid. So is it worth pursueing?

 

2) Barring an original Bruticus (which are so insanely expensive that it isn't worth my time, esp. considering I could put that money towards buying multiple limbs for Energon Bruticus/Superion), are any of the recolors any decent? If there is one thing that bugs me it a non-coordinating color set (when there are coordinating sets available -- I mean, I used to collect Power Rangers Zords, and I don't mind E. Op or the E. combiners)... I keep looking at the urban camo set and liking it, and wondering what it looks like completed... but the universe desert camo set... I just can't wrap my mind around...

 

3) Side note, just 'cuz lists are better in 3's: Are those KB toys exclusive micromaster universe units that combine into a gestalt worth anything? I barely know what they are to begin with, so I don't know what they look like combined and such...

 

Any help is appreciated.

By far the G2 version is the worst looking

Definitely try to complete your set. Bruticus/Ruination has always been one of my favorite gestalts ( I have 3 versions of him lol). The urban camo Ruination is the best looking, in my opinion, as far as having one color scheme.

Any ideas on the Universe one, if I have to "settle" for that?

 

Oh, and a side-note and a selfish plug (cuz I hate posting useless threads): I wrote that Nemesis Prime review on TFormers.com -- is it decent?

Thanks. I'd like to do more, but I tend to get wordy... I mean, I left off a ton of stuff, like how his arms are different, and that he forms up better in robot mode if his missiles are removed from his sides...

 

I also think I was a bit harsh on it cuz of the instructions, but I feel a perfect 5 stars needs to be earned... =P

 

Anyways. Ya, you guys have convinced me. As soon as I'm done getting 4-5 of each of the Energon combiners (I really wish I had a pic of the construction one built), I'll look into getting prolly the urban/arctic camo version, as it is the most consistant.
