Email Bay for Nimoy!

Recommended Posts

Guys, this was all from a Q&A panel at a sci-fi convention. Nimoy simply stated that he'd like to work on the third one. He didn't say "Make Galvatron from Megatron so I can screw Hugo Weaving." He could probably pull rank and have Bay drop him in a cameo, but would rather have fans speak up if they really wanted him.

How the hell is Nimoy going to pull rank on Michael Bay? Say what yo want about Bay, but his Transformers films have pulled in a crap load of money for Dreamworks/Paramount. Do you really think Nimoy can pull rank on a director whose films have for the most part been successful as hell? Look at a few of Bay's box office records: Armageddon $554 Million Worldwide, The Rock $335 million Worldwide, Transformers $710 Million Worldwide, Transformers ROTF $833 Million Worldwide, Pearl Harbor Worldwide $449 million. These aren't even including his crappier films which still make their money back... Yeah Nimoy is going to pull rank. :doh

Nimoy is better off using his Vulcan neck pinch than "pulling rank" on Bay.

Come'on It's Nimoy. He can pull rank on anyone, he's legendary. I think few people would even attempt to say no if he asked them to do something. Any ways, I think if he did do TF3 it would have to be a really good script and a lot of changes in the way the deceptiocons look and act would have to be done. I say this because for the most part the cons all have a gravley kinda whiney voice. To all of a sudden have a voice that is as strong and dynamic as Nimoys they would have to do a good bit of wrighting to fit it in and explain it. IMHO

Outside of Star Trek, Nimoy really isn't that legendary.

but Bisons, that's like saying "Outside of Star Wars, Mark Hammil hasn't done anything legendary."

Perhaps not mainstream, but Nimoy is a VERY accomplished stage actor. He's directed several films. He's been acting in TV and movies since 1951. He's done voice work for a load of animated movies and shows. He's narrated shows. He's written books. He's produced movies and TV shows. He's written movies and TV shows.

What do you consider legendary? That sums it up nicely to me.

Oh, and if you don't believe me about Hammil, just imdb him. It's jaw dropping.

and if you want to compare apples to apples, aside from The Matrix, what else has Hugo Weaving done this is legendary?

Oh yeah, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Yeah but so has Mark Hammil (actualy I don't know about the book writing part). I know he was in Amadeus, and a bunch of other things. I couldn't tell you what Nimoy was in.

Outside of some narative stuff, and Galvatron, I can't tell you any voice work that Nimoy has done, but I know Luke makes a pretty good Joker.

I know Nimoy did some music just because once I saw a dusty vynil in the back of an antique store, but who the hell knows whats on it?

Not exactly mainstreem or legendary.

Now Im not knocking Nimoy, I think he's a great personality. Lets face it though, he's Spock. Mark is in the same boat, he's stuck being Luke for the rest of his life.

Hey man then in another 15 years he can moan on ANOTHER nostalgia programme that he hates talking about the 90 minute "toy commercial" and we can pick more stones from the bottom of our heart.

Just to back you up. Here is some of the Things Nimoy has done. "Other than the great works he has writen and directed and stared in for star trek."

All together he has 48+ movies and TV series,

He has directed 8 movies and shows

He has writen 16+ books, shows, movies, and tv shows

5 albums.

He also participates in numerous charity organizations and other events aroud the world.

And lets face it, if you ask someone who Leonard Nimoy is they will be able to at least tell you he was spok if not something else. Few other people (ever in any of the TF movies or cartoons) could say that. Heck even bay can't say that.

Here is his wiki link as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Nimoy#Stage_and_screen

Legendary, in your eyes only. To me a legendary actor is someone who has range, not someone who has more or less played the same role for the last 40 years (Spock).

Mark Hammil is just another Nimoy in my opinion, he just has the distinction of playing perhaps the most memorable version of the Joker.

As far as Hugo Weaving, he is part of Two (soon to be three with TF3) Sci-Fi/Fantasy trilogies. Remember he was "Elrond" in Lord of the Rings and is actually going to play the role in the new Hobbit films as well. Not to mention his work in the upcoming "Wolfman" film and hey, they guy voiced the sheepdog in "Babe." I would say his resume is perhaps greater than Nimoy's. ....Using my definition of legendary, I would say that is more "legendary" than Nimoys Star Trek movies.....but that's just me.

As far as his longevity, yeah Nimoy has been around forever, but so has Leslie Nielson. Perhaps we should email Bay into giving Frank Drebin a role in the new Transformer film. I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

^^ Who cares that he directed TV/Movies. I am going by the accomplishments of a screen actor. If you want to bring in directing/writing and acting then forget Nimoy, might as well grab Woody Allen. he would be perfect, especially for a KISS player themed robot in Bay's films.

Ah yes. By your logic, the guy who played Wedge Antilles in Star Wars should also be considered legendary. Hell, for as much as Weaving was in the LOTR trilogy, the guy who played Wedge was in it as much. Hell, the charatcter was just as important. What was his name?

You want Nimoy' svoice work? Okay.....

Land of the Lost 2009- The Zarn

Civilization IV (game)- Narrator

Atlantis: The Lost Empire 2001- King Kashekiem Nedahk

Sinbad: Beyond the Veil of Mists- Akron/Baraka/King Chandra

Seaman- Narrator 1998

Armageddon: Target Earth- Narrator

The Pagemaster 1994 Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde

Star Trek: Judgement Rites-Cmdr. Spock

Transformer: The Movie-Galvatron

Lights: The Miracle od Hannukah-Narrator (Oi!)

So yes, Nimoy has a plethora of acting, voice work, classically trained stage actor, all of the qulaifications that make him a legitimate actor outside of Star Trek. Weaving is a very good actor, but I'm fairly sure that Weaving would bow to Nimoy's work and experience.

Also, the Woody Allen, thing..what a longshot. If you want to go that route, why not use Lucas? Isn't he on that legendary status? He worked on STar Wars and Indiana Jones. He also directed a usually forgotten little movie called American Graffiti.

You can make your case all you want, but there is a ton of evidence as to why he could do it very well.
