Murder Again!

Well, G1's writing was not the most stellar either, and everybody rooted for the Autobots then. People whined, "make it like geewun!" Well, this could be their comeuppance. And I can see what was meant to be. But then, I can see what Revenge of the Sith was meant to be.

You sound like a grade schooler trying to support your argument through ridiculous tirades. Of course G1's writing wasn't stellar. It was a cartoon made to sell toys created in the 80's! And who said everybody rooted for the Autobots? :con

How is it that Optimus cutting down Decepticons is horrible and unheroic in the movie, but something everyone cheered for in the War for Cybertron preview where he's cleaving Decepticons in half?

Is it a double standard, hypocracy, or just another reason to bitch?

A little of all three. But in the sake of the reason to bitch, the dude he cut down in WFC was charging at him whereas Demolishor was defeated when the bullet was put in his metallic skull.

See I don't have a problem with that, if I was chasing down someone so blatently destructive who most likely had ill intent towards me and mine, I'd make sure they stayed down.

Then theres the other prespective of it being a mercy kill.

Or maybe even still the possibilities of a decapacitated yet functional transformers in the wrong hands could bring on a new wave of the wrong type of technology in the wrong hands.

Or maybe just to go beyond that as part of a strike force he and his were sent out with specific orders to destroy all hostiles for something they did before the movie began. On sight execution orders for war criminals aren't unheard of.

Then again maybe they just wanted to open the film with an edge to the fight scene which was pretty cool.

All these are perfectly good reasons to take down an opponent in combat.

Concerning my initial post comparing the forest scene to the opening of War for Cybertron, well yeah in the game he was being charged at, but he probably didn't have to start cutting guys in half where as in the movie he was surrounded and had to act quick to defend his friend with any type of aid very far off.

so I continue to ask, why is one situation awesome, and the other deplorable? If anything, the preceptions of the actions are reversed.
