I'm way late to the comics game, though not of choice. I have no local comic store (well I do but the owner is a complete dick. I hate his guts). But my Books A Million has started carrying comics en masse!

I was wondering if there was anything in particular that you guys could recommend for me to read. There were a lot of choices as far as TFs go and I don't really know where to start. I saw Escalation, Stormbringer and a few Spotlights among others. I ended up picking up All Hail Megatron and I am a total fan of that now.

So come on guys, help a guy out! :D

What do you like to read? First off, I would recommend The Walking Dead, Irredeemable and maybe Batman simply because it is now Dick Grayson and not Bruce Wayne as Batman! That is within the last couple of months too. IF you are really serious about comics and want to talk to or set up an account with my local comic book store. I know that they will do mail order stuff for people all the time. Especially since y'r local guy is such a dick.

I'm not a die hard comic guy, but I liked Megatron's Origin(although alot of the art blurred), Stormbringer was all right, and the Spotlight TPB I have(I thing the first one) was fun. I read WW2 and it was alright, you could see they were working towards a 3 but...

I have the first one ordered from Amazon and look forward to it.

I only read the first book in the Escilation, Devistation series I forget the exact name of it but I realy didn't like it. Seems like they could have wraped it all up in 1 issue if they wanted to, but didn't.

Well I was referring to strictly TF comics but I do like me some Batman. Although I don't think I would like a Batman who wasn't Bruce Wayne :/. Is Long Halloween, The Laughing Man and/or Scarecrow & Two-Face any good?

I love Alan Moore and I had my heart set on The Killing Joke but I couldn't find it. Oh well, I'll keep trying. Also, how is the Crisis series? Any good? Final Crisis looks interesting.

Thanks for the perspective. I wouldn't mind checking out War Within but they didn't have it. They had the compilations of the original comic and I think they had Megatron: Origins. I'll have to pick that up next time.

My problem is that there are so many offshoots I'm not sure whats interconnected. Like is Stormbringer and Escalation related? Which one comes first? The same for Marvel Zombies Dead Days. Where does it fit in with the time line? It just confuses me a little. And what about these spotlights? Are they just one-offs? I'd totally dig the Soundwave one if I could find it. As is all they had were Shockwave and another one I cant seem to remember atm.

Man do like I did, outside of the one series with the "-ion" endings, take everything as a one shot even if it isn't. If you catch a tie-in later, hey you get to be suprized. Hopefuly that'll make you wanna find out more...

Thats how I take stories I jump into late.

But I am an obsessive compulsive completionists to things like this. If I cant start at "1" then I go crazy. I dunno, we'll see.

yeah, I use to be young and foolish like that...

The posts are rebuilding now. There's over a million so its gonna take not 10 hours to process them all. No joke.

Oh well, if you are looking for just Transformers(my bad on that one) I would start with all the Spotlights and the the mini-series leading up to All Hail Megatron. After that, I would recommend picking up the Dreamwave run of books specifically More Than Meets the Eye which is the Biography books. Ummm... then Maybe the original Marvel Books. Hmmm... after that, I'm not sure what else there is. I suppose the Transformers UK trade paperbacks would be good for you to read too, although admittedly, I have not read any of them yet. And if you need any help getting copies of any of that stuff, let me know. I have a ton of each series 'digitally'.
