Favorite Transformation

Recommended Posts

I have not seen anyone mention this but two of my favorite TFers to transform are Primus and Unicron. They are fun just to switch back and forth between planet and robot with all the extra stuff on them....

Once you get the arm thing down, the Mazda one is much better IMO. My Jazz fits together all over so well in car mode. My Smokescreen, on the other hand always seems to have gaps in the rear of the car. It's hard for me to get his legs set...

Well, like I said, the problem isn't the arms, it's the steering mechanism. Fiddling around with that for 10 minutes isn't my definition of fun...

Oh yeah, and there is also the hood that won't stay on in robot mode. I don't have Jazz, so I don't know if it works for him. But it sure doesn't for Shockwave.

As for Smokescreen's legs, I hear a lot of people complaining about this. But it's not that hard. You just have to do one side at a time and it's quite easy. :P

The same applies for Tracks' legs, and... Well, basically any transformation that works like that. Except for the Mustang's arms... You HAVE to do those at the same time and if you mess up even slightly the whole thing falls apart... Now that's fun. >_>

I had really bad luck with alternators. I have shockwave, smokescreen, silverstreak, and jazz-and not a single on of their hoods stay on. Also, my jazzes arm falls off if u even look at it funny. I'm not kidding here, you can't even pick the thing up without the arm fallin off.Which really sucks because I even picked up reprolabels for him. I picked up rollbar and the tabs that hold his waist together broke on the second transformation. Lastly sunstreaker- he is the only one I haven't had problems with. Shockwave is a close second as hes really solid except the hood. Sorry didn't mean to vent guys. There was a silver lining tho-the look of utter disbeleif on my brothers face when he realized it they were transformers. He totally thought they were model cars.

If anyone has seen Jazz transform from the ROTF game DLC then that would be it for me. He's like a spinning turtle of death. Also when you do a tf jump he does like 2 summersaults simultaneously.

Energon Divebomb....so simple, yet you have two distinct forms. Love how the wings become the legs. Also a fan of Rotf Screamer...keeping the look of the first, yet 100% different. Animated Prowl is on my high points for...well...animated...lol

Right now, I'd have to add ROTF Demolishor to the list. His sequence is nifty and clever.

... Also, my jazzes arm falls off if u even look at it funny. I'm not kidding here, you can't even pick the thing up without the arm fallin off. ...

My Alt Shockwave has that problem too. Why, just the other day, I bumped into the shelf he was standing on and his arm flew off and hit me in the head. He didn't even fall over or anything... Just his arm. O_o

Favorite Transformation??? THIS is a tough one!!! Alternators Smokescreen or Jazz both rank right up there for me. If I had to choose one for accuracy to the cartoon/comic likeness it has to be the Masterpiece Optimus Prime. There isn't a thing wrong with the transformation. Especially for those of us who have the Powermaster Optimus Prime and the Original G1 Prime(who doesn't these days), the transformation is a nod to both versions of him. And he just looks cool all around. The only other transformation I have always enjoyed messing around with is Astrotrain. I can always vision the scene from the movie where Astrotrain transforms to a train and then as he is blasting off he turns into a Space Shuttle. Very slick to say the least. Plus I had no idea that his interior was so freakin' large. Devastator inside his cargo hold without hitting his head? Seriously? I say Astrotrain should have just said, "That's it, I'm dumpin' all you suckers and I'm going to be leader! Mwah-ha-ha!!!"

Hmmm... others I like are Hot Rod from the Original G1 line and the updated Universe/Classics line. Both are pretty good in their own right. Otherwise, I have always enjoyed the G1 minibots like Bumblebee or Windcharger etc. You actually don't need a degree in rocket science to figure them out.

Some of the Moviebots have grown on me. I'm getting more appreciative of a jungle of complex robot parts and curved panels which folds into an unexpectedly boxy altmode without needing ten million CGI parts to do so. The unnecessary torso-claw aside, Payload exemplifies this trend. The only hint of a clue about what his other form might be in robot mode is the wheels hiding under his wrists, and yet his altmode is a blue brick with quite a lot of detail.

I've heard the ROTF Leader Prime toy has quite an involved transformation, but I haven't seen one personally yet.

I particularly like transformations which would be damn hard to copy even for a contortionist wearing a kibbleriffic cosplay outfit. There's something a little unsatisfying about a 'transformation' which is just the robot lying down, or crouching, or doing Pilates exercise #87. It's also why I tend to find transformations which are "stand the altmode on end; maybe bend the front of the altmode 90 degrees; flip out arms, legs and head" uninspiring. At the other end of the spectrum, I really like MP01's torso transformation process.

This is kinda silly, and only marginally related, but I'd like to see G1 Topspin redone with a more complex transformation and more attention paid to things like hiding the hands and head, and reducing the size of the feet.
