Critic finally gets ROTF, not for old critics

Sure as heck sound like his reasoning is "Transformers was meant for young stupid people, and most of the viewing audience are young and stupid, so it was a good movie." Does anyone who liked the film take this sort of arguement as insulting? If a movie that is simply 2 hours of people being kicked in the crotch was successful at the boxoffice, should I stop saying it lacks plot?

I feel like we're getting closer and closer to Idiocracy with this discussion and your above comment. What's wrong with thought provoking movies again? Is there some rule somewhere that thought provoking and fun can't happen in the same movie???

Thing is that I put Transformers in the same category as most comic book films of late - it was a comic book property essentially. We have Dark Knight, Ironman, Incredible Hulk, etc. All big action, big plot, epics. What is the plot and maturity level of ROTF compared to these? About the level of "pull my finger."

What about Termanator 2, Aliens, Star Trek (All films including the newest one), Jurasic Park and Titanic. They're mostly action films (except the last one, but still) with plot, complex character development and the like in them and they too are good films.

And personally, Disaster Movie is one of the worst movies in either terms of humor or otherwise (Hobgoblins, AVP:R, Termanator 3 and Manos: The Hands of hate are close, but not quite as they do have at least one or two redeeming things to them at least)

But yeah, RoTF does have bad humor at points, but Wheelie was funny, I'll say that. Infact if it wasn't for Wheelie, Jetfire and (once and a while) The Twins, the humor wouldn't be as good as the first.

Honestly, I think I'd find that movie more watchable than ROTF.

People that liked ROTF need to understand that things that you like are not necessarily good.

Leave movie critiquing to the critics.

When I say I enjoy watching an old 1960s Godzilla movie, I know they are not well done. I just enjoy them. It doesn't mean people who don't like them "don't get it."

In my case, I had to deal with all the good and bad publicity of the flick before I got to see it, which was almost a week after it released. I simply decided to go to the film and just enjoy it for better or for worse. Yeah there are several things I had issues with, but meh, I took it for what it was, Big Robots, Big Damn Fun, and just enough plot to move it forward. And seeing as I paid less than 8 bucks for 2.5 hrs of entertainment in a cool sparsely filled theatre, I feel completely at ease with liking it for what it was.
