Revenge of the Fallen Grosses Another $8 Million, Now 10th Of All Time

In a down weekend at the box office, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has reached another milestone. According to studio estimates, the film grossed another $8 Million at the box office, netting a domestic total of $379.1 million in receipts so far.

The film has made a little over $406 mil in the foreign box office with a worldwide total of $785.2 mil. With the weekend gross, the film has now surpassed Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King to become the 10th on the list of highest-grossing pictures of all time.

The film only needs a little over $1 mil to surpass the other revenge movie, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith to take the ninth spot.

Thank God most people in the world don't agree with the ROTF haters. Saw it 5 times, loved it more every single time. Can't wait for the DVD.

I've personally seen it twice, and I actually felt my IQ dropping after the first 15 minutes of my second viewing. I won't see it again, for a variety of reasons, and I've got very serious reservations about going to see the third movie if the same crew is going to be making that film. I felt talked down to, shouted at and generally ashamed to be in the theater watching this movie. I was ashamed for myself and everyone around me. That doesn't happen very often to me, but the last time I had that sensation, I was being put through The Wicker Man (the Nick Cage one). The first time I had that sensation, I was sitting though Jaws: The Revenge, which actually cost me 2 very dear friendships and lowered my sperm count, to boot. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen fully deserves to be lumped into the categories of both of these films. The movie was absolutely repugnant, completely puerile and spends far too much of its time 'borrowing' from a myriad of other films (which are nearly all 'fine' examples of grindhouse swill in their own right) to be called a good film.

Now, that that is out of my system, I wish you and the THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of others who comprise the majority of moviegoers who watched this movie and enjoyed it nothing but the best. Buy it on DVD. Go to the theater and see it again. In IMAX. I hope that EVERY time you see the movie, it's just like your first time seeing it, and you never, ever, ever fall out of love with the film. I truly do. However, I really don't get why the minority of people who watched the movie and hated it must be called out at every turn it seems, as though we have some kind of voluntary malfunction that manifest itself as hating the movie just to hate it, and we would be loads of cool if we would only think just like you and shut the hell up and love Love LOVE the movie all day long, but... what the hey.

Some of us just didn't like the movie.

:agree Hit the nail on the head shellformer. Even though I did enjoy watching it, there was a lot of lost potential and it felt like it was just whipped together to get money coming in.

Yep. I was kind of afraid this was going to happen when they started working on it so soon after the first movie came out...

hear, hear.

Ya know, I just got through watching the first 4 episodes of G1 ever on my brand spankin new DVD set (for about the first time in the last 8 or 9 years), and I thought that it was going to be nowhere near as cool as I thought it was "back in the day". But let me tell ya; those four episodes are silly, have continuity issues, scale issues, and lots of other little inconsistencies, but in terms of sheer quality and enjoyability, they step all over ROTF, take it's lunch money, and summarily beat the crap out of it.

All the characters (even the background ones) are interesting and have personality, and though the show isn't rocket science, it's not completely stupid either. I was surprised by how many times I found myself saying "That was silly, but this part kind of makes sense... (more sense than ROTF, anyway)"

Of course some of the stuff that happened later got downright laughable, but at least the "Pilot" and the episode right after seemed pretty solid, even 25 years later.

It makes me sad that Bay can't out-do a 25 year old cartoon show on quality... :shrug
