Bus Transformer Project "Robobuz"

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

at last I found out how to post threads in here... hope this works.

I have been designing transformers for some clients from time to time. One of them was the Nike shoe transformer in 2002.

Now I wanted to show you my latest design that I did it for our local energy supplier and bus company: Robobuz!

I also added an animation on Youtube:

What makes this project so exciting for me is that now we are producing transformable toy models of the character (even with rubber tires)! Having in mind that a toy model should be possible was one of the reason for giving him the rather boxy shape, but I really like that look anyway.

Note that he transforms into an articulated bus. It was quite a task transforming such a long train shape into a humanoid form. My solution to this was to integrate the moving center joint as the bots knee parts.

I also created a small Flash Game and some Wallpapers, you can check them out at

I hope you like it.

Cheers

Thomas

Sorry, my fault. I tried to delete my first post when I went for the news section, but after all I didn't really know where to post this thing anyway.

Just tried to show it to the community. Thanks for the assistance!

Nice!!

Oh, sweet! Will the articulation still work on the bus?

And any chance of the production process might also be able to be applied to turning out some Sallys? I've always liked that transformation.

Wow, that looks awesome. Has a Universe Inferno feel to him. Can we see some pics of the actual toy? How about some poses?

Nice work, congrats!

That is indeed quite a challenge due to the splitting into the knee elements. But yes, the bus will have an articulated joint, at least we try to realize it.

I already talked to our producer about Sally. I would LOVE to have her produced as a toy.

What you do probably do not know by now is that she already got two sisters - and if Robobuz will sell well, we will also get them into production. Here's a video of the three fembots I did back in early 2005 (before the TF movie, therefore the yellow Camaro - I'll probably have to find a new alt mode for her now):

But I don't know if we will have this kind of complexity as initially planned:

The original Sally design has a complete interior with seats, steering wheel and stuff. We'll have to see.
