Custom ROTF Leader Class Megatron

Recommended Posts

Up for sale is my Custom ROTF Leader Megatron!

Item #300321711679

We have 2009 ROTF Leader Class Megatron repainted to look just a bit more darker, more menacing, and a bit more roughed up..Seeing as he is made of dead Decepticon parts and was sunk to the bottom of the ocean, I don't really think the guy should be all nice and clean.

He was sprayed with Krylon Fusion Hammered Black to give him a nice rough under coat. Then I used various shades of Testors grey, gun metal grey, silver, chrome, gold, and metallic red to get the different layers of tarnished metal on him. You kinda really have to see him in person to see how it all reflects in various lighting. The paint was used in very thin layers, so no build up, and has been curing for over a week now..This guy is SOLID! And chipping hasn't been a problem.

Megatron still transformers just fine, his lights and sounds work perfectly, and he does come with his instructions as well.

See more of him here:

:rofl I had to laugh when I seen you say it wasn't an F_R repaint. I thought exactly the same thing when I listed a couple of customs this week. Seems like if you aren't F_R or Jinsaotome it's almost impossible to sell customs these days :emo

Good luck though pal. I know the quality of your work is great and definitely worth buying :thumb

20 hrs left on this guy!

If I may pick your brain for a moment..

Do you break your figures down and then do the base coat(when you do a total repaint), of do you just work around the figure as you see fit? I have painting experience, but I'm not sure how to go about certain things like paint wear in/around joints and so on. I built up my skills working with lead/pewter mini's and plastic kits some time ago so working on the toys that can move around poses some challenges to me.

I like they look of your Meg's as well. :thumb

I always take mine apart and spray, I don't usually base coat, just go right to finish. But this one, since I was doing the dry brushing him, I went the dark base layer.

Really pulling for you here Sami. I'd place a bid myself, but I'm already on a strict budget this summer.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind someone actually BIDDING on it...lol

OK, thanks. I was figuring that but just wanted some input. I'm thinking of doing some leader class repaints soon. Seeing as everyone is dumping their '07 LC OP's, I could pick one up on the cheap and make a custom Ultra Magnus. Kinda following you lead on not quite F_R but somewhere around there.

And I'm giving serious thoughts of bidding, just waiting to see what finances look like come Monday morning!

Awesome job! If yo added an elbow joint on the right arm it would be perfect! Really love the dirty look on it.

Unfortunately I just suck at mods, but I can use a paint brush. Some of us will never be F_R.
