Stan Bush Responds with New Fan Friendly Version of 'The Touch' Video

Recommended Posts

Seems to me that as 'his lame kids song from 20+ years ago' became synonymous with G1, thus giving him his fame; he's trying to recapture that by doing the same thing Bay did with the franchise, giving it an updated facelift. Now the argument can be made that neither have fully satisfied, but I think we can start to understand either's rationale behind their decisions. Really though, whatever we want to say about Stan's new version, positive or negative, it's really doubtful that Bay will accept it at this point...the soundtrack is about to be released & the movie is practically finished. Personally, I don't love it or hate it... :shrug

This is what I find ridiculous. What fame? "Touch" doesn't even qualify him as a one hit wonder.

Maybe, you know, he could have written a new song or something, and submitted it to the producers 6 months ago rather than pretending that getting hits on youtube somehow makes him relevant again.

The fact that I know, and you know, and everybody on here knows, as well as family, friends & co-workers who aren't even into Transformers know this song...and let's not forget the Boogie Nights rendition...gives him his 15 minutes of fame! That WAS his one hit, if you even want to call it that (you don't, I know). Did it ever make it to mainstream radio? Highly doubtful. Did it ever lead to any other mainstream music success? None that I'm aware of...didn't hear anything of the guy after that. Nonetheless, to make the argument that The Touch didn't make Stan Bush known is just false...I'm sorry, you can't take that away from him. I don't even know why I'm defending this guy...I'm not even into his music! :doh

Outside of Boogie Nights(and even still) the only people I know who know this song are on message boards.

Now please keep this in mind, I've worked in many music stores, I go to many shows and festivels, and know countless professional and amature musicians.

Outside of being related to a kids show and a random refrence in a movie, this song never had any air time on the radio or MTV(and back in the 80s the "M" actualy stood for MUSIC).

We're fans, we know this song, for the rest of the world, no, it's hardly a memory if at all. Not even a 1 hit wonder, just another catch in another cartoon movie.

Thats the sad truth behind it. Hell "Who's Johnny" did better than this

Sorry guys, it's just the truth...

So the Stan Man is going to be at Botcon :tflaugh

I wonder if there will be any awkward moments now that he's obviously just milking the fandom...

And If he plays a song, will it be 80's Touch or Emo Touch?

My two cent's worth:

The song is OKAY, but only with the rap crap gone. I really wish Stan had thought of something new for the new movie.

As for the original song: It's a favorite of mine, but I realize that it's 80's vintage, and as such, it remains an 80's favorite.

I don't blame Stan for trying, but I think his effort needs to be a bit more concentrated on making an AWESOME song, and not on fitting it into the Transformers mythos.

Two cents worth is now paid up. On the count of three: EVERYBODY THROW POO BALLS AT WV!!!
