You killed TransTech!

Transtech would have failed anyway. Because kids want toys with a lot of gimmicks.

I've considered watching the rest of BW, but I'll do that during the slow period between Superlink and Cybertron...I've also went back and bought alot of the toys. While most of them are fun, Their place isn't with being the mainline.

I personally think several of these designs are as someone put it "fugly", but it would have been nice to see how they could have tackled it all. I don't think that TT would've been that successful, atleast NOT successful enough for Hasbro to have kept going with it. Blame whoever you want: G1 Purists, Hasbro, BM Haters, etc... in the end it doesn't matter right now.

But I do hope something along the lines of TT happens down the road...coming full-circle back. Maybe nothing exactly as is, but something similiar.

And I really don't like that Optimus Prime, Shockwave, Megatron, or Nightscream, but I do like the Cheetor and Starscream however.

On the other hand, I don't see what is so great about BW writing. I've seen several episodes and it just looks like another pre-anime westernized cartoon. It has the usual slapstick junk comedy, and even tho the fans refuse to acknowledge it, it also strived on "character upgrades" and plotpoints that centered around it, just like any other Transformers series. My money is still on the Micron Legend>Superlink storyline as being the most epic of any series, and I can't wait to see where it goes with Cybertron.

I found the bulk of Armada flat-out unwatchable, even by G1 show standards. I admit, a large part of it had to do with shoddy localization, but the bulk of it was uninteresting stories. It just struck me as Pokemon, sans Pokemon, with Transformers. ie: The Autobots pick up a Mini-con signal, as do the Decepticons. Both factions then race to it's location and end up fighting each other along the way. Sure, the locations change (Atlantis, the Arctic, Jungles, etc.) and there were some interesting twists and character arcs (Starscream, and to a lesser extent Sideways and Scavenger), but I just didn't feel that it was on the same level as Beast Wars.

You say Transformers shouldn't be human-sized and wear animal skins. Are you familiar with the idiom "evolve or die"? Beast Wars was not only the evolution of the toy line, but the evolution of the Cybertronians (as far as canon is concerned). Granted, they're machines, but they're also living, thinking, emotional beings, and the natural progression of intelligence is adaptation. Evolve or die.

Why do people compare Armada to Pokemon? No one carries gun and dies in Pokemon.

gotta catch em all, that's why :tfgrin

It's the "gotta catch 'em all" mentality. Ash and co. are after all the Pokemon, Megs and Prime are after all the Mini-cons.

edit- Guess I'm not alone on this one!

First off, to address the topic, why must you make such broad generalizations? My loyalties lie very much with G1, but more than that, with the G1 universe. So even though by many standards I would probably be considered a G1 purist, Beast Wars/Machines was a continuation of the story started in the original toon, so I personally loved Beast Wars and it took some time, but Beast Machines grew on me a lot. So all I'm saying is don't blame the G1ers in general.

Although TT has some really good designs(Starscream in particular), some of the designs are just wretched and would need a lot of refining before I would say I wish that the line had been done. But I didn't like most of the Beast Machines designs at first either, but some just took some adjusting, so it would at least be interesting to get a new show based off the old universe, even if its not TT.

I could tolerate RID for a few eps, but I couldn't stand to watch anymore Armada or Energon after I saw an episode of them. I attribute this to me not being such a big anime fan, at least not the "kiddie anime" that RID, Armada, and Energon appear to be done in, so I think it would be great to get a new show, hopefully done by Mainframe, that follows up Beast Machines, maybe set another few hundred years down the road.

Well thats what kids are into now. Still Armada is nothing like Pokemon. I want to see a G1 cartoon made like Hamtaro and then see what happens.

Yeah, I know that's what kids are into. That doesn't mean I have to like it. Or even appreciate it.
