..had the foresight and insight to guide the autobots thru Primes death?

 

its been buggin me, and i wonder what you guys think?

I don't think they'll do the same mistake twice... Rodimus will only be shown as an heroic Autobot! I'm sure about it!

I think he's talking about old Rodimus(no series was mentioned). It was a year or so before the movie and season 3, so I think he put up a front for them. But the constant self doubt he had in season 3 makes me think he relied on Ultra Magnus and Springer alot to keep the Autobots rallied.

Ultra Springer would be an awesome gestalt.

I think Rod Prime got the shaft. The portrayal of his constant angst was ridiculous and completely no-sold him in almost every conceivable way. He could have been--should have been-- a GREAT character, but...oh well.

 

What's galling to me is Animated Optimus Prime seems so much like what Rod Prime should have been like, and how he should have been portrayed, as far as learning HOW to be a leader and earn the respect of your fellow 'bots goes.

:pfx S3 of G1 was handled very poorly. Animated Optimus Prime is exactly how G1 S3 Rodimus Prime should have went.

definately agree, the original movie was all about Rodimus maturing from a young man to a great leader, s3 was just handled horribly

One of the reasons I'm waiting with bated breath to see how Animated handles their Rod Prime. If I didn't know better, I'd think he was written to fail. S3 had a lot of promise--I dug the idea of the Transformers adventures taking place on a much more cosmic level...but so many of the characters were handled poorly:

 

Galvatron (somewhat);

Cyclonus (very much so);

Scourge (oh, man);

 

...oh, I can't go on. These were the core antagonists for S3..! You know it's going bad when your core villians are written very inconsistently, and your main protagonist is, in essence, suffering from a severe case of emo-related angst.

And they turned Grimlock cuddly!?!

Agony.

 

Season 3 made me hate Grimlock.
