Unrealesed Classics Deluxe Optimus Prime

Recommended Posts

Yes, it does exist, Yuyuyami. Let's look at Classics Optimus Prime. His vehicle mode windshield forms his chest. He rear end forms his legs, the sides of the cab forms shields on his arms. His grill fits on his back, his wind vein forms a weapon, as does his smoke stacks. Everything has a place in robot mode and is exposed. Nothing gets turned inside out. This is true of every transformation. None of them turn completely inside out. The alternate mode parts are simply divided up among the different servos. In every case, you can see the vehicle mode parts attached to the humanoid mode's various servos. The humanoid mode always resembles the alternate mode. It's inherent in transformation. We're not talking about morphing here. Every part has to go somewhere, and the external parts remain external. No transformer turns itself inside out during transformation. So yes, it is a requirement.

How to solve this problem in 3 easy steps:

Step 1) Picture Powermaster Optimus Prime

Step 2) Realize that if his "back" an alien semi or something, then his vehicle mode would be Cybertronian, but his robot chest would still carry all the elements of his Earth mode.

Step 3) Realize you're wrong.

Powermaster Optimus Prime had a lot of cheating in his transformation, one thing, I said right from the beginning is a bad thing. It's a poor example, especially given it's poor articulation. Even then, the robot mode still emulates his vehicle mode. The robot chest still mirrors the vehicle mode truck body. He still has "windshields for pectorals, he still has the grill for his abs. Those are his truck mode's design elements. The design still incorporates all of the vehicle mode's elements into the humanoid mode. You'll notice that Masterpiece Optimus, Classics Optimus, RotF Leader Optimus, etc, don't cheat in the transformation. Good design includes not cheating. Powermaster Prime had a lot of cheats in the design, but it still carried over all of the truck mode's elements into the robot mode. His robot mode still looked like he turned into what he does.

Cheating has been the whole point of discussion! Yuyuyami wants a toy that cheats heavily. You say it's impossible. It's clearly not impossible, it's just not something you'd be interested in having.

Stop being such an argumentative douche.

Well, the cartoon certainly didn't. Look at Wheeljack's, Jazz', and Bumblebee's Cybertronian vehicle modes compared to their robot modes. They looked nothing alike. You can't turn those Cybertronain vehicle modes into those robot modes. They're too dissimilar.

No, you can't turn those robot modes into those Cybertronian vehicles. But the leap to not being able to turn those robot modes into any kind of Cybertronian mode isn't a logical one. You just need to design a Cybertronian mode from scratch with the robot's Earth elements in mind.

Some of the kibble could fold away.

Much of the kibble could act as something else - say forward mounted laser guns instead of smokestacks or a spoiler instead of a semi truck's bumper.

And some of the kibble could just be what it is - a window is a window, just placed in a unique spot when compared to the rest of the design.

It's really not that hard to imagine. :shrug

On the side of Hobbs, THIS...

Now if BMW can figure it out, I'm sure a race derived from technology could pull off better no matter how improbible.

Also, unless you like screaming at a wall, there is no point in arguing with Tramp. Suprized The Ultimate Guide hasn't come up yet.

Just because it's the norm doesn't mean it's a requirement.

Take Universe Cyclonus. His entire nose section gets shoved into his chest and doesn't have anything to do with the robot mode.

Movie Screamer. His wings get folded onto his back in such a way that they're not used to make the robot's aesthetic. They're just lost in his until he transforms again. And they're a HUGE part of his alt mode.

EDIT: "Cheating" in transformation, aside from part forming, is not necessarily bad design. It just depends on the toy. Also, Tramp likes focusing on the inane parts of examples and ignores the meat of them.

I think it could be done easily. It might be kibbly, it might cheat in spots, but it could be done.

thats the fun part about scifi. you can break all sorts of rules.

^ NO YOU CAN'T! IF TRAMP SAYS IT CAN'T BE DONE, THEN WE HAVE TO BE STUCK WITH CRAPPY TOYS!
