GF's are unpredictable. I had a chick over at my place recently....and IMMEDIATLY she wanted to see Masterpiece OP, I of course told her HELL NO! and let her play w/ some G1 Reissues.

 

When Track's arm made a snapping sound I said: "Hand me the toy, your not old enough to play with it".

 

So glad my fiance dosn't have an overwhelming desire to tinker/destroy.

 

I think it would be heartbreaking to have someone who means so much to you DESTROY something that means so much to you.....because you can't extract proper revenge.

Hell, i would've let her play with it. That a girl would show such an immediate interest in TFs is rare, and well, if she broke it, she'd probably feel like a heel and pony up for a new one!! it's WIN FREAKIN WIN BABY!! :)

When I was a child, (I'm 27, so I grew up in the target demographic of the original G1 stuff) I had about 50-some TFs. Most of the combiners, things like that. I don't know what happened, but my family has no idea where they ended up. Somehow, I must've agreed to let'm loose at a garage sale or something. Ugh. My Red alert was used as a door stop to paint the door, so it had white paint all over it...

 

As far as GF vs. TF... I had this one girl who drove me batty in the end, but really had no problem with my TF collectin. She even got into Beast Machines. I had this other girl who was really into it, but we had no chemistry, so I had to let her go. I'm sure you can imagine how crappy it was to have to knowingly let go of a TF-happy GF.

One girl i saw asked me to just never bring it up, she seemed to attract Transfan BFs, and it drove her nuts.

 

 

The girl I'm seeing now was kinda weirded out out at first, but i said "hey, i'm not going to bombard you with them, make you watch the show, etc." so she's cool. She actually wants to watch the show, but I said only if she asks for it, i'd still feel weird suggesting we watch it. When I told her about my collection, she said "what, do you have 10 optimus Primes?" I didn't bother to tell her about all the variants, generations, etc... :)

 

It would be nice to have another TF-happy GF, but well I'm not holding my breath.

 

as far as kids - no one under 18 is allowed in my apartment unless under my personal supervision. As it stands, I have a collection of 515 Transformers, and only somewhere between 1 and 2% are on the injured list. That's something I'm real proud of.

I've been quite lucky with my boyfriends; the former one, being 7 years older than me, wasn't interested in it, but since he knew that I'm very fond on Starscream, once we created a romantic fan-fiction about him together, and that was really lovely.

The boy I'm together now is only 2 years older than me, so we share the experience of seeing them when we were children, and we still do it togethere when we can.

I'm not buying them at the moment, but I don't think there would be problems, except if they would really be to expensive (prices are absurd, here!); anyway he too likes buying toys of his preferred characters (last one has been 0078 Gundam), so I guess we would manage to go 50/50.

And, more lovely of all, sometime I manage to convince him to play "SS & girlfriend" with me… usually when he wants to get forgiven for something, but doesn't matter!
