I wouldn't put HR in just yet. I'm willing to bet they'll focus primarily on Seasons 1-2 characters.

Well, sure.. except that at last report, it's supposed to be set in the 80s.

 

Aerialbots? Feh.

Constructicons? Hell, yeah!! Mm... Devastator-y goodness.. :)

yeah, the dinobots would be cool to see on the big screen. but unless the movie is taking place in the comic continuity or later in season 1 after the crash on earth the dinobots wouldn't really fit.

And just why can't we combine the two continuities? It worked for DC in Crisis.. :tfgrin

I'm sure that it'll be an all new continuity that draws upon some elements of the cartoon and the comics, but is mostly original.

 

I also bet that the lineup isn't necessarily consistent with the original lineups or with the release dates of various toys.

 

I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the characters we all know and love undergo some massive changes in their transition to the big screen. The one that immediately comes to mind is Grimlock: he would be a great addition to the cast and would provide some conflict within the autobots, but the Dinobots are (let's face it) impractical and sort of silly for a realistic, live-action adaptation of the Transformers, so I bet we get Grimlock as a tank or some other realistic vehicle. Another example that comes to mind is Megatron: we know there will be merchandising for this movie, including toys of the characters as they appear in the film, but we know there will never be another gun Megatron toy in the US--so Megs will have to have a new alt-mode.

So many charcters to choose from, and as much as I'd like to see all of season 1-2 back in action for this one, it is a movie that is meant to cater to old fans as well as bring in new ones, so there will probably be a smaller leading cast than we'd like with lots of cameos here and there(hopefully anyway). But here are my picks:

I would love for there to be a more complete cast, but to be honest, this is probably too many primary characters. many of them, if they appear at all, will either fill the background or have a line or 2. But who knows, they may surprise us.
