So here is the story - This was a gift for Plumper.

 

He actually got me two really super awesome gifts

 

Botcon Bugbite, and R2D2 Garbage bin

so I wanted to get him something nice. Up to that point i had snagged a Mighty Muggs Thing and now I was feeling a bit inadequate.

 

We had been chatting about Ironhide his fave character, and I was in Target looking at Ratchet thinking - hmm this would be a neat quick repaint that would make him happy.

 

But the Boyfriend wanted me to buy the big green thing - Bulkhead which I've been resisting ever since TFA started. And thats when it hit me! OMG! That's the perfect repaint. I'd even remember Plumper mentioning in passing - "I'd accept a Bulkhead repaint as TFA Ironhide" - when we were discussing which characters might get new molds and which would be repaints.

 

So I got to work- and I cooked up a story about how I was hard at work Kitbashing my Sentinel Prime into a CL Gears (which is still super tempting - just remove the shovel and add a bull bar, and shave off the chin or something...) He kept asking for WIP pics and I kept making lame excuses. This was late November.

 

He was out of town the first week of December so I sent it off the day before he got home hoping it would the very next day and be like a surprise. Or the next. I told him to keep an eye out for it - So on Dec 4th I'm bugging him - did you get it did you get it?

 

"not yet"

 

And we keep chatting and he's probing me for hints, and I think he's getting suspicious since I also still have no pics of Gears either.

 

And I start having doubts because really - I'm a bit like Lucas when it comes to Kitbashes. I'm an idea man and not so much with the actual application. So another day passes and I'm getting worried. He's getting more excited - so I'm beginning to think - oh wait - lets temper expectations - i warned him this gift might end up being a "It was a nice thought" and not to expect too much.

 

But another day goes by and he still hasn't gotten it. He confirms the address (cause at one point I teased him telling him i sent it to his mom's house) and thats when we discovered the error.

 

You see - last summer, Plumper moved to another apartment in the same complex - and my address book still has the 7h Apartment number and not the G8. I'm excited cause well - mystery solved - go ask your neighbor if he got a weird package.

 

Plumper does - but the new tenant in that apartment says no package arrived. :argh

So I check the tracking info, and sure enough it was delivered on the 5th.

 

So he goes again and the guy is rude to him - apparently the guy is deaf in one ear, has a mental disability and two jobs. So tracking Ludo down is a bit of a challenge sometimes.

 

A few days go by and we get frustrated - so Plumper asks the landlord for help. But she can't get ahold of this guy either - apparently he owes back rent and is hiding from her.

 

More days go by and now we are both getting on each others' nerves - is it there yet?

what is it? um... its awesome just don't expect too much - come on just tell me- why isn't it there?

 

And I'm sure he's thinking that I totally flaked on him and bought Genral Greivious SW-Former or something.

 

Then his whole town goes into Tornado watch and I look like a bigger douche - cause he's telling me about how someone's house just went to Oz and I'm asking him about his mighty mugg package... :9000

 

So finally today (the package has been missing now for 10 days!) he and the Landlady track the neighbor down and ask again about the package.

 

I'm at work this morning and I get an IM -

"he threw it away"

"Wait what?" :wat

"My neighbor threw the package away - he said he'd pay for what it was worth - I told him $50"

 

Now my heart's sinking... so I tell him...

well its a custom painted bulkhead blah blah blah - ironhide... blah blah - here's a work in progress pic ... I'm sorry - I am a chode... blah blah

 

And Plumper throws a fit! He's talking about disembowlment and breaking into houses and shot - Not at me but at this neighbor who clearly doesn't deserve to live. He also takes a moment to thank me and say that its the best almost present he's gotten - like ever.

 

So he's cursing and I'm apologizing and then there's a knock on the door.

 

Landlady found it (I'm not sure where) and Ludo gets to live another day.

coincidentally - I got my

Bugbite

package from Plumper about the same time from my mail staff at the office.

 

So we opened our gifts up together - and jazzed together and it was almost like having Christmas with friends...

 

So anyway - sorry for the headache buddy - I'm glad it worked out. :)

 

And thank you for the awesome gifties you sent me - they rock!
