I'm dusting off my old Beast Wars figs for basement bar display and I came across 2 Optimus's, that are the coolest ever. Well ones cool...

 

I found my 20th Ann. SL GrandConvoy + Kicker set from 2004. I thought I sold Convoy to a friend who luvs Optimus, turns out I didn't. I got all excited + opened him, then... WHA ???

 

If memory serves I thought the large robots could form together with others so this may explain Convoys body shape, but... What's up with the Santa-Convoy ??? The pics on the box show him w/armor but he looks SO weird the way he was sold. His clear blue gun couldn't make-up for it.

 

Paint him red and he'd be the fattest Transformer ever !!! Which I just might do cause he's really starting to bother me.

 

On the flip-side. Big Convoy ROCKS !!! He's the manliest bot I've ever seen. Even with all that mastodon kibble he's still a god among Transformers :) Now I KNOW I sold my extra one to that lucky SOB.

 

Does anyone remember if BC had a gun ??? He looks like he could rip you a new hard-drive without but kinda looks bare too.

as for Big Convoy he didn't have a gun but you could remove the back kibble and turn it into a bazooka of sorts and in my book that beats any ion blaster or generic sci-fi gun

 

 

I wish they had made the toy more like this cancelled toy... i swear if that could transform and combine the little extra baggage would not bug me as much

Pssshhh, Fattimus Prime was wicked cool. I know that he is fat, but he's got cool poseability. I even like the chest bursting action. I guess I'm just weird.

Actually, it was Wing Convoy (Star Saber) that wrapped around him.

This actualy is one of my favorite Convoys. Sure he looks wierd and the head is all types of a fail, but I like what they tried with it. Instead of another head hidden, a new one transforms over the existing one.

 

I'd like to see that idea tried again with alittle more effort.

 

As for the belly, well it only looks bad in standard mode, but then he puts on a jogging suit, and those pounds get worker right off.

 

The trailer, and Prime Force don't look exactly good, but efficently do what they're supose to. Like the head, I wouldn't mind seeing it tried again.

 

Then you have to keep in mind the versatility in combinations. Yeah Omega Prime was weak, but the multiple modes you can get out of WingSaber is pure win!!!

 

If your real good you can go that extra mile and do a Prime/Omega/Saber combo, it's pretty awesome.

I've done that. I've kind of given him the winged sandals look of the messenger of the Greek gods, Hermes, but attaching half of Wing Saber to each foot providing flight capabilities to Optimus Supreme.

To me it makes up for the lack of track wings on Omega. To bad though the one side doesn't hold to well cause of the connection post on WingSaber.

 

The crane arm though is bad ass with all those guns though.
