So I dunno who else is like this, but does anyone consider what would be the dominant hand for certain characters when posing toys are doing fan art and whatnot?

 

I just looked up at my MP Prime and realized he was holding his blaster in his left hand and I thought it was wrong so I switched it to his right hand. Usually i'm pretty particular when it comes to certain characters as to what hand they use. I don't do it for most of em, but the more important ones I try to be consistent with

 

Righties:

Optimus Prime

Megatron

Grimlock

Cyclonus

Soundwave

Sideswipe

 

Lefties:

Starscream

Ultra Magnus

Shockwave (Personal cannon says the hand was lost in a battle and replaced with the gun)

Sunstreaker

 

Anyone else have any opinion on this?

 

Ultra Magnus is right handed. It's the only side the BFG fits in.

Optimus, Grimlock, Megatron, and Starscream are ambidextrous. Optimus uses his gun in his right hand but his axe is on his left arm. Grim uses his sword in his right hand, and shoots his gun with his left hand. Megatron has his cannon on his right arm and uses his mace with his left arm. Starscream, and the rest seekers use the guns on both arms at once.

 

I think most of the rest of the TFs are right handed with the exceptions of Shockwave, Hound, and Ironhide.

I tend to go right, cause I'm right handed. Every so often I do lo left though when I see to many guns pointing in the same dirrection. I also sometimes put the weapons upside down or in a screwhole that can hold it.

 

Oddly enough though, once I open a figure and decide how the weapon should go, it always stays that way.

 

On clone bots though like the classics seekers, I never set the weapons the same way figure to figure.

-Starscream has the traditional possitioned on the upper arms pointing down

-Skywarp has one gun in the hand, with the other facing down on the same arm. It gives him one arm free to hold you down, and the other set to blast you to pieces. Very warriorish

-Thundercracker who's kinda passive has his arm mounted but pointing straight up

-Acidstorm has them mounted on thw wings pointing up so he can shoot his chemicals into the clouds

-Ramjet keeps his mounted on his arms facing forward so he can shoot charging bots down while laughinf at them.

I do like that Idea for Acidstorm. Imight have to do that when I get him

As for the coments of "whats it matter, they're robots/toys, so why would they have prefrences" well, they may be machines, but they're also individuals, which is one of my favorite things about Transformers :tfevil , so it would stand to reason that they'd each have their own prefrences.

Ya'know, I never thought about it. Everyone's currently right handed, just 'cause that's what I am. Now that the topic about characterization's been brought up I may have to re-work that....

Mostly right, but some in the left hand. Universe Prowl is one such example.
